Under-the-Radar Recruits That Caught Our Eye at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Jim SullivanJun 7, 2018

Although this game does feature players who are considered to be the best high school seniors in the business, there is still some major classifications of who gets the most attention from the media. For example, the superstar QB Gunner Kiel grabs a lot more camera time than Cyler Miles.

Under-the-radar recruits are the best kind. This bowl may really just seem like a big show to most of you, but to all of these recruits, this the last time they will every play high school football. Most of them go all out, leaving everything they can on the field.

Although many of the big-shots act like they don't want to get hurt and play bit less enthusiastic, you can tell the guys right from the start who want to just make an impression. These are the under-the-radar players that make sure you don't forget their name anytime soon.

We take a look at the four recruits who really caught our eye at the All-American Bowl.

Devin Fuller

1 of 4

Playing for the East, Devin Fuller did well considering he was out of his element just a bit. Ranked the No. 6 QB in this recruiting class, Fuller played the game mostly at running back and a little bit at wide receiver.

Hailing out of New Jersey, Fuller showed up with 18 yards on three carries. He also grabbed one reception for 17 yards. The second leading rusher on this team behind big shot Stefon Diggs, he is all set up to make a decision soon on where he will go to play.

Chad Voytik

2 of 4

If Chad Voytik had a little more time with some of his East receivers, he probably could have been the show off of the game. Throwing deep multiple times, this senior out of Cleveland has proven he has the arm strength to play in the big leagues.

Leading the team in both attempts and completions, Voytik went 7-for-13 for 60 yards and no TDs. He possibly increased his draw for some of the bigger schools with his performance, but most likely will stick with his first choice in Pitt.

Cyler Miles

3 of 4

The Washington commit looked fantastic all game. Not exactly a big name, Cyler Miles is the 16th-ranked QB at his position and comes out of Denver, Colo. Considering who he matched up against in the game, he really showed up strong.

Leading the West in passing, Miles went 7-for-8 for 155 yards and one TD. More than a stand out performance, he is certainly a player to watch as he moves on to Seattle to play for the Huskies.

TJ Yeldon

4 of 4

Considered one of the better recruits in this game, T.J. Yeldon was certainly supposed to be good. However, this kid did more than show up. On two occasions, Yeldon lept over defenders to gain extra yards. Yes, I said lept...as in he hurdled young men five and six feet tall with ease.

The Alabama Crimson Tide gains a very big-time player with Yeldon coming to Tuscaloosa. His yardage doesn't represent his talent as he only grabbed 16 yards on three carries in the All-American Bowl, but just those two plays alone put this player in a class of his own.
