Video: LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Team USA Debate Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us'
The No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts is Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," essentially the seminal work of art in Lamar's feud with Drake. It's become the symbol for a pop culture phenomenon, to the point where it's near-impossible to avoid listening to the song at some point.
Well, it appears Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry would like to hear other songs now, based on his comments following Team USA's 105-79 exhibition win versus Serbia in the lead-in to the Summer Olympics. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James does not agree though.
Curry's case is that "it's not the only song in America."
That is factually accurate, but to counter Curry's point, it does feel like the only song in America at times, and it's inarguably the most impactful and newsworthy one in 2024.
So it's not going anywhere any time soon, and Curry can't run away from it, even as he chats with teammates postgame in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The song also notably played during the Team USA intros when they played Canada, where Drake is from, before their exhibition in Las Vegas.
Curry and James actually have small places in this beef as they were notably name-dropped in "Meet the Grahams," another Lamar diss track: "Ayy, LeBron, keep the family away, hey, Curry, keep the family away. To anybody that embody the love for their kids, keep the family away."
Curry is notably a big Drake fan and even got a shoutout from him at a concert last year. James seems to be a big Lamar fan and has been seen singing Lamar's songs, including "Not Like Us."
For now, though, Curry, James and the rest of Team USA are unified in their quest to bring the country Olympic gold. Their first Olympic group-stage game will be against Serbia on July 28.
