Caitlin Clark Struggles in Loss to Ionescu, Liberty; Fever Star Exits With Ear Injury

Andrew PetersJun 3, 2024

It's clear Caitlin Clark has a promising future in the WNBA, but it wasn't her night on Sunday as the Indiana Fever fell to the New York Liberty 104-68.

The former Iowa star and No. 1 overall pick had just three points in the loss—her lowest scoring total through 11 games this season. The rookie just couldn't find the bottom of the net in the loss, going 1-of-10 from the field and 1-of-7 from deep.

Clark exited in the fourth quarter with an ear injury. Aliyah Boston (ankle) also left the game with an injury.

Fever coach Christie Sides did not have an update on either player after the game:

After the game, fans expressed their disappointment with the poor outing from Clark against a star-studded Liberty roster.

While Sunday's game was one to forget for Clark, she's still off to a solid start this year, averaging 16.9 points, 6.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game. Earlier this week she notched a career-high 30 points against the Los Angeles Sparks.

With the loss, the Fever dropped to 2-9 on the year but will now get a five-day break from games before playing in another game.
