The United States men's national team crashed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the hands of Belgium on Monday night in Seattle.

Belgium took advantage of a few defensive miscues to capture a 4-1 win and set up a quarterfinal clash with Spain.

Belgium was on top of the game from the start.

The early pressure from the Red Devils resulted in a ninth-minute goal out of Charles De Ketelaere.

The Americans found a lifeline in the 31st minute through Malik Tillman's deflected free-kick goal.

Unfortunately for the USMNT, that was the only shot that beat Thibaut Courtois over 90 minutes.

De Ketelaere pounced two minutes after Tillman's equalizer for his second goal of the tournament.

Belgium controlled the game from that point on.

The defensive errors just got worse for the Americans on Hans Vanaken's 57th-minute goal.

Goalkeeper Matt Freese caught himself in no man's land and scuffed a clearance that led to Vanaken's shot into an open net.

Belgium added one more goal at the death through Romelu Lukaku.

Belgium is now headed to Los Angeles to play Spain in Friday's quarterfinal at Sofi Stadium.

The USMNT has now been eliminated in the round of 16 in each of its last four World Cup appearances. Belgium eliminated it in 2014 and 2026.
