Alabama Hires Nick Sheridan, JaMarcus Shephard as Co-OCs After Ryan Grubb Exit
Alabama's new head football coach, Kalen DeBoer, announced Tuesday that Nick Sheridan was being hired to serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, while JaMarcus Shephard was being brought aboard as the co-offensive coordinator, assistant head coach and wide receivers coach.
"Nick and JaMarcus are both fantastic coaches, and we are excited to have them join us at Alabama," DeBoer noted. "They have experience in our offense, and they know what we are trying to accomplish on that side of the football. They both bring passion and enthusiasm to their work and have proven to be excellent teachers and recruiters at every stop of their careers."

Sheridan, 35, served as Indiana's offensive coordinator (2020-21) and was a tight ends coach under DeBoer at both Indiana (2019) and Washington (2022-23). He also coached the quarterbacks at Indiana in the 2017-18 seasons.
"It is a tremendous opportunity to join Coach DeBoer at Alabama," Sheridan said in a statement. "I look forward to working with this offensive staff to develop a plan each week to put our team in a position to be successful. There is an unmatched legacy at Alabama, and I understand the importance of upholding that standard while developing our players."
Shepard, 40, held a number of positions at Western Kentucky (2011-15) before spending a year with Washington State (2016) as inside wide receivers coach. He then moved to Purdue, where he was the passing game coordinator and wideouts coach (2017) before getting promoted to co-offensive coordinator (2018-21).
He joined Washington's staff in 2022 as the associate head coach, passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
"I have a passion for coaching and developing our football players both on and off the field," Shephard said in a statement of his own. "The chance to help Coach DeBoer continue the standard at Alabama is something I take a lot of pride in working to accomplish. This is a special place, and I am excited about the opportunities that are in front of us."
DeBoer, 49, has the major task of replacing Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. All his predecessor did was win six national titles in 16 seasons, staking his claim as one of the best college coaches in football history.
