Fiesta Bowl 2012: Luck on Cowboys' Side as Oklahoma State Will Win Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma State will muddy up the question of top BCS team by beating Stanford in the 2012 Fiesta Bowl.
Stanford power will meet Oklahoma State speed in what is as close as we will ever get to a playoff game for the National title. If Oklahoma State wants the discussion on their validity as second fiddle to continue, they need to beat Stanford, and they need to win big.
Anything less would only serve to validate that the BCS got things right when they placed Alabama and LSU together once again. The Cowboys will be facing the assumed No. 1 draft pick in Andrew Luck.
That fact will no doubt cause issues for the Cowboys, but lest we forget how taxing the Oklahoma State offense can be as well.
Brandon Weeden is no slouch and is primed for a big game against the Cardinal defense. This is a game in which both teams are playing for pride and reputation. Cardinal fans will be crying foul at a typical bias against the Pac-12.
They never seemed to threaten the top spot in the BCS rankings. Oklahoma State has an even bigger beef with the voters that placed Alabama ahead of them, never giving the Cowboys a shot at the title game.
Weeden enters the game having passed for over 4,300 yards, but his 72.6% completion rate is the reason the Cowboys knock Stanford back on their heels from the start.
The Cowboys are adept at moving the chains at a relentless pace. Stanford will soon grow weary from an onslaught that has been underrated in college football for the entirety of the season.
When you add a weapon like Justin Blackmon out on the wings as well, it is almost an insurmountable task for Stanford to deal with.
This is going to be a high-scoring affair that will be a treat for all fans, but it will also be a controversial one at that.
By the end of a game that depicts the Cowboys' prolific offense, we will all wonder whether or not the would have done that against a stout LSU defense. At least the conversation will continue, and that is all Oklahoma State can hope for.
