Big 10 Tournament 2023: Bracket Predictions Before Final Men's Regular-Season Games
The Purdue men's basketball team has already secured the Big Ten regular-season championship. It will also be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, which will take place next week.
Beyond that? There's still a lot to figure out regarding seeding for the Big Ten tourney this weekend. Behind the Boilermakers (14-5 in conference play), there are six teams that have 11-8 Big Ten records. And only three of them can join Purdue in getting double byes for the tournament.
So the games taking place Saturday and Sunday will have a big impact on seeding. The teams that finish in the top four don't have to play as many games to win the tournament title. It just isn't yet clear which programs will end up in those spots.
Here's everything you need to know with the Big Ten men's basketball regular season winding down.

Purdue already won the Big Ten regular-season championship for the 25th time, the most of any program. But the Boilermakers have captured the conference tournament title only once (2009) since the event was implemented in 1998.
This year, Purdue will have a good opportunity to finally win the Big Ten tourney again, considering it is the No. 1 seed and the clear top team in the conference during the regular season.
As for the other teams that will receive double byes, the prediction here is that the Nos. 2-4 seeds will go to Iowa, Maryland and Indiana, respectively.
Iowa has notched back-to-back wins over Michigan State and Indiana, so it has momentum heading into its home matchup vs. Nebraska on Sunday. The Hawkeyes should have no trouble staying on their roll and defeating the Cornhuskers.
Maryland is 16-1 at home and 2-8 on the road. But the Terrapins need an away win on Sunday at Penn State or else their path in the Big Ten tournament could become much more difficult. The Terps are due for a road victory, so they'll end their drought (dating back to Feb. 4) against the Nittany Lions.
Indiana will face Michigan on Sunday in a matchup featuring a pair of teams with identical 11-8 conference records, so the stakes will be quite high because of the seeding ramifications. The Hoosiers have lost three of their past five games, but they should get back on track at home against the Wolverines.
While Purdue should be the front-runner, Iowa could be a team to watch. The Hawkeyes are coming on late in the season and may not have peaked yet. Plus, junior forward Kris Murray has scored 20-plus points in five of his past seven games, and his leadership should be valuable for Iowa in tournament play.
If a neutral court is more friendly to Maryland than road arenas have been, then the Terps could fare well in the Big Ten tourney. And they own a win over Purdue.
But Indiana is the only team that has defeated Purdue twice this season. Maybe the Hoosiers have the Boilermakers' number, although it's challenging to beat an opponent three times.
