Rose Bowl 2012: Star-Studded BCS Showdown Will Be Season's Best
Monday evening's 2012 Rose Bowl Game between Wisconsin (11-2) and Oregon (11-2) is the must-see BCS bowl game of the season and will wind up being college football's best matchup of the year.
Both teams rank in the top five in scoring offense this season, each scoring more than 44 points per game on average. And it's that type of explosion that will make the Rose Bowl just as exciting as it was last year, when the Badgers lost a close 21-19 contest to undefeated TCU.
Expect points and expect big plays. After all, the Big Ten and Pac-12 champions both fed off of them in 2011. Both teams also have the versatility to reel off big plays through the air as well as on the ground.
Offense will be a sight the BCS National Championship Game between No. 1 and No. 2 will surely lack. Sorry defensive football, you're just not fun to watch. Thus offensive football reigns supreme in Pasadena, California this new year.
Veteran quarterbacks Darron Thomas and Russell Wilson have each thrown for at least 30 touchdowns and less than seven interceptions this season, adding a heavy threat to their already deadly rushing attacks, which both rank in the top 10 in the country.
Each powerhouse also boasts a former Heisman candidate at running back. Oregon's LaMichael James has had a legendary career in Eugene, while the Badgers' Montee Ball has smashed records at Wisconsin.
No other BCS matchup features so many stars at skill positions, with the exception of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl between Stanford and Oklahoma State.
Still, all eyes will be on both James and Ball on Monday night, as both average more than six yards per carry and have surpassed 1,600 yards rushing in 13 games in 2011.
The firepower and potential in 2012's Rose Bowl Game is undeniable and will, without a doubt, make it the premiere BCS bowl of the college football season.
