Dwight Howard Video: Watch Superman Blast the Rock Into 3rd Row and Salute Fans

Orlando Magic superstar Dwight Howard may have had 25 rebounds on Thursday night against the New Jersey Nets, instead of a pedestrian 24 if he had simply caught this fade pass from Mehmet Okur.

Instead, the one they call Superman levitated and blasted the ball three rows deep like it was a volleyball in search of a warm beach.

It's only fitting that Howard would rise like Criss Angel atop some Vegas casino to swat this shot while playing for the one NBA team associated with magic. You can't script this stuff.

As for Okur, this has to be one of the most pathetic heaves at the rim that NBA fans have witnessed in a long time. 

Not since LeBron James in the 2011 Finals has such a half-hearted attempt for a sweeping hook been made. It's a delayed shot at "King James," with the lockout and all.

If anything, Okur, who is averaging four points per game, will not be in any New Jersey Nets trade proposals to Orlando in the coming weeks and months. 

Stick to shooting three-pointers, Mehmet.

Howard finished the night with three blocks total, along with 16 points and 24 rebounds, which was a season-best for Superman on the boards.

The epic night in Orlando still fell short of Howard's career high for rebounds in game, which is 26 he posted against the Philadelphia 76ers on April 15, 2006. 

Howard's dominating play early and his salute to the fans following his Superman swat on Thursday night is good news for Magic fans who would love nothing more to see No. 12 sign an extension with the Magic.
