NBA Rumors: Why Dwight Howard-Deron Williams Dinner Is Trivial, Means Nothing
While the New Jersey Nets have arrived in Orlando prior to Thursday's matchup between the two teams, much has been made about the fact that Deron Williams and Dwight Howard went out to dinner, according to The Newark Star-Ledger.
If there was ever a story not to make a big deal about, this is the one.
It's no big deal at all. It wouldn't be the first time friends went out to dinner when they were in the same city, and it certainly won't be the last.
“Since he’s been in the league, every time he comes to town, we go eat dinner and just kick it,” Howard said after the Magic’s shootaround. “We’ve been friends since the Olympics, and so we go out to eat, have a bite.”
Of course Howard has requested a trade to New Jersey partly because of Williams is there, but the two having dinner together means nothing and it's not a story.
Could the two of them have colluded over a bite to work out a plan to get Howard to New Jersey or both of them to Dallas?
Absolutely, but they could do that over the phone or in an email as well and we wouldn't be talking about that.
At the end of the day, who and where Howard has dinner with will have no impact at all on where and if he's traded.
It's just something trivial and meaningless that shouldn't matter.
