Michael Jordan Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend Yvette Prieto
Michael Jordan is no longer on the market. A Jordan spokesman confirmed to WCNC in Charlotte that the NBA icon and owner of the Charlotte Bobcats is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Yvette Prieto. The pair have been dating since 2008, two years after his first marriage ended.
The couple reportedly got engaged over the weekend and have been celebrating on a private yacht in the French Riviera.
Jordan's previous marriage to Juanita ended with one of the largest divorce settlements in history, when the 48-year-old had to pay more than $150 million in the settlement.
Of course, when you are one of the biggest icons in the history of professional sports and have a global empire that makes billions of dollars every year, you can take a hit like that and still be living an extravagant life.
Prieto is a Cuban-born model. She has done work for Alexander Wang in the past. She and Jordan have been living together since 2009 in a luxurious house in Florida.
The pair have not been open about their relationship like a lot of celebrity couples. Furthermore, neither have confirmed the engagement. There are simply reports from a spokesman who works for Jordan.
Considering what Jordan had to give up when his first marriage ended, it is surprising to see him get engaged again. However, like Huey Lewis always said, that's the power of love.
Prieto was able to wear down the notoriously stone-hearted Jordan with her charms and wit, I guess. If only Byron Russell had been more attractive, perhaps he would have been able to prevent that final shot in 1998.
