It's almost bell-ringing time for the second bout between Luka Dončić and Yaxel Lendeborg.
Oh, Stephen Curry, Austin Reaves and all other healthy members of the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are apparently involved in this can't-miss Friday night collision, too (10 p.m. ET on Prime). This will tip-off NBA Cup play for these two teams, who are inhabit the West's Group C, which also features the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings.
Lendeborg, Golden State's fearless freshman (and, already, second offensive option), had plenty to say about Dončić after these teams tussled on opening night, and none of it was favorable. Lendeborg told reporters afterward he "lost all respect" for Dončić due to "all the whining and complaining."
Dončić hasn't said much, but as a perennial All-NBA first-teamer and MVP candidate, he probably doesn't feel the need to respond to a rookie. Besides, his play has said plenty, whether that's contributing 28 points and seven assists during L.A.'s 22-point win in that first matchup, or cooking up an absurd 52-point, 10-assist double-double over the weekend.
The Warriors, like most defenses, had no answers for Dončić, but they really couldn't identify solutions for Austin Reaves (23 points, six assists) or Walker Kessler (26 points, 12-of-12 shooting), either. They also couldn't summon enough scoring from anyone not named Stephen Curry.
That said, Golden State heads into this matchup on the heels of consecutive wins over 2026 playoff participants (Denver and Minnesota). And a lot of that success is tied to the offensive impact of Lendeborg, who averaged 28.5 points in those wins.
The Friday Night Fights feel to Lendeborg v. Dončić: Round 2 hypes this contest on its own, but there are a number of interesting elements to the tilt. We'll surely touch on them all with real-time deliveries of all the hightlights, updates and analysis you could want.
