The World Cup champions will have a chance to defend their title

After a truly hard-fought 90 minutes, Argentina earned a wild 2-1 comeback victory over England to seal their spot in Sunday's World Cup final.
While the first half in Atlanta was low on chances, to the point where the two teams totalled just three shots at the break, the second half was chock full of attacking action. England took the lead in the 55th minute via Anthony Gordon's close-range effort after a lovely long ball from Harry Kane and some hard running from Declan Rice to pick up the second ball in midfield. Still, Argentina wouldn't be denied.
Once they'd conceded, Argentina began dominating possession high up the field against an opposing low block. Lionel Messi grew into the game, playing pin-point passes to threaten Jordan Pickford's goal. Pickford was forced into several crucial saves, but couldn't keep Enzo Fernandez's long-range strike out of the back of the net in the 85th minute. That hit from Fernandez made it 1-1 – and Lautaro Martinez's header in the 92nd minute gave Argentina the lead.
Perhaps Thomas Tuchel will regret his decision to position his team so deep in their own half for the final 40-plus minutes of the match. Perhaps Argentina's comeback was inevitable, with the greatest player of all time leading the charge.
Either way, Argentina will now face off against Spain in the tournament finale on Sunday at 3pm ET, with the trophy and a spot in the history books on the line.
WOW. Argentina turn it around at the death.
Huge goal for Enzo off a Messi assist to keep side in it
What a moment to get his first World Cup goal

It's been a tense, chippy affair in Atlanta. In a fixture with plenty of history and a spot in the World Cup final on the line, you can understand why.
Both teams have prioritized defensive solidity and tight marking through the middle so far, resulting in few chances. To paint a picture, the first 10 minutes of this semifinal featured seven fouls but not a single shot. England, with their man-to-man pressure, and Argentina, with Giuliani Simone a surprise entrant into Lionel Scaloni's lineup with the seemingly sole purpose of acting as a disruptor, have been dead even so far.
An interesting battle is developing in the center of the field between Lionel Messi and Elliot Anderson, with the English defensive midfielder doing well to limit the Argentine's impact. Still, Anderson finds himself on a yellow card, which could be dangerous as the second half nears. Which team will find the edge? We'll find out shortly.
