You Know What You Did, Yordan Alvarez
Remember when Yordan Alvarez turned the game upside down in Game 6 of the 2022 World Series?
Yeah, well, apparently so does Philly.
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. It's the American League against the National League, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is playing host, and the Home Run Derby on Monday set the tone for a celebration of local favorites. And not just of Phillies stars like Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh, but also Mike Trout. He grew up not far away in Millville, New Jersey and is well-known as a Philly fanaticโnot to be confused with the Phillie Phanatic, of course.
We'll have updates for all the action, as well as highlights and anything else worth passing along from the 96th iteration of the Midsummer Classic.
Just keep it here, where posts will appear in reverse chronological order from newest to oldest.

Remember when Yordan Alvarez turned the game upside down in Game 6 of the 2022 World Series?
Yeah, well, apparently so does Philly.
This is Mike Trout's 12th All-Star selection, but his first near his hometown of Millville, New Jersey. From his look and that sound, everyone in Citizens Bank Park is thrilled about it.
They just introduced the reserves for the AL and NL squads, and Philly fans once again made it clear where their loyalties lie.
There were loud boos for Jordan Walker, Willson Contreras, Paul Skenes, Cam Schlittler, all players from the Phillies' NL East rivals, as well as from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacksโstill salty about 2023, eh?
The biggest cheers were for Bryce Harper and the other Phillies, including honorary coach Don Mattingly. And also for Detroit Tigers shortstop Kevin McGonigle, a Pennsylvania native.
Justin Verlander, appearing in his final All-Star Game, got a mix of boos and cheers. He just kind of laughed through it.
Mr. and Mrs. Met are in the house at Citizens Bank Park, and Philly fans aren't happy about it. Yeah, please try to contain that surprised gasp.
Hey, if Jordan Walker can shrug off the boos, maybe Mr. and Mrs. Met can, too.
This is going to be the 96th All-Star Game, and the results are shockingly even. The AL has won 48 times, with the NL taking 44. There have otherwise been three ties.
However, it's not a dirty little secret that the ownership of the All-Star Game has been squarely in the AL's hands for decades. Since 1997, the AL is 24-4 in the All-Star Game, with wins in 11 of the last 12.
Obviously, it's a National League stadium that will be full of fans that want to see a National League win. It can't hurt.
Want to see Munetaka Murakami (6'2", 213 pounds) and Travis Bazzana (5'11", 199 pounds) look tiny? Easy. Just have them shake hands with Kevin Durant (6'11", 240 pounds).
He may be a 16-time NBA All-Star, but it's really never surprising to see KD taking in a day at the old ballgame. He rather famously knows ball, and he apparently doesn't mind saying he appreciates the passion of Philly fans.

American League Starting Lineup
Starting Pitcher: Dylan Cease, Toronto Blue Jays
John Schneider of the Blue Jays put this lineup together for the AL, and it seems obviously designed to get Trout a standing ovation right off the bat at Citizens Bank Park. If so, a classy gesture.
It's otherwise not surprising that Schneider tabbed his own ace to start. Yankees fireballer Cam Schlittler might have been a better choice on paper, but he isn't going to pitch in the game. And besides, Cease has a 2.56 ERA and leads the AL with 148 strikeouts
National League Starting Lineup
Starting Pitcher: Cristopher Sรกnchez, Philadelphia Phillies
You have to hand it to Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts for playing to the crowd. Schwarber will lead off in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans. And even before Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski took himself out of the running, Sรกnchez was the easy pick to start as a hometown hero.
Otherwise, what's most notable about the NL's lineup is that Shohei Ohtani is not in it. The four-time (and likely five-time by the end of 2026) is taking time to rest a sore knee.
