On the one hand, these are nice sentiments that may assuage some of the speculation over whether Brown and Tatum like each other.

On the other hand, if Tatum really cared about Brown wouldn't he have made a native post that permanently showed on his IG grid rather than putting it in a 24-hours-before-it-self-destructs format??????*

Washington Wizards lead assistant David Vanterpool will be transitioning into a front-office role ahead of next season, according to The Athletic's Josh Robbins. His position on head coach Brian Keefe's staff will be filled by Adam Caporn, who has been an assistant with the Wiz since 2024-25 and is also the head honcho of the Australian men's national basketball team.

These changes follow Washington bringing Patrick Ewing and former Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford on as assistants.

Though these additions and transitions can seem purely cosmetic, the Wizards are under pressure to be more competitive next season after trading for Anthony Davis and Trae Young, the latter of whom they just gave a four-year, $212.8 million deal. Any changes they make are therefore notable.

If nothing else, the reshuffling presumably puts additional pressure on Keefe. Washington now has two capable replacements on staff, in Clifford and Caporn, should the season travel off the rails.

Vanterpool's transition to the front office is also worth clocking. He was previously considered a head-coaching candidate for multiple vacancies, so this move raises some eyebrows. Granted, it's not totally out of left field. Vanterpool was on the front-office track back in 2013 before deciding to go the coaching route.

Prior to signing Andre Drummond, the New York Knicks were monitoring the availability of Charlotte Hornets center Moussa Diabaté, according to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

It'll be interesting to see whether New York's pursuit continues with Drummond in tow. He replaces some of Mitchell Robinson's offensive rebounding while potentially adding a stretch element from the corners, but he's not nearly as mobile or versatile on the defensive end.

Diabaté is a better across-the-board fit even though he doesn't bring the prospect of a three-point shot. His finishing through contact and at the rim outstrips that from Drummond, and he contested noticeably more shots at the hoop per 100 possessions last year despite spending more time on non-bigs than his elder counterpart.

Whether Charlotte would move its 24-year-old big man is debatable. Having Naz Reid, Hannes Steinbach and Ryan Kalkbrenner could make it easier, but only the latter profiles as a true 5.

Still, the Hornets have signaled a commitment to the bigger picture since the season ended by trading LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. With Diabaté speeding toward free agency next summer, moving him and his $2.5 million expiring salary would fit that same motif.

Sources told Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line that the Denver Nuggets have "rebuffed several trade offers from teams attempting to pry away Cam Johnson."

This news comes amid speculation that Denver is willing to enter the second apron and bring back restricted free agent Peyton Watson without moving around other money. Many pegged Johnson as a likely cost-cutting casualty given how much Christian Braun's trade value has declined entering the first season of a five-year, $125.5 million extension.

Take all of this with a big ol' bowl of skepticism. All of us should believe the Nuggets will go into the second apron when we see it.

They are less than $3 million away from crossing the threshold without factoring in Watson's next deal, and assuming they waive Jonas Valančiūnas. Re-signing Swatterson could put them north of $30 million past the NBA's pseudo hard-cap.

It's tough to imagine the governing Kroenkes ponying up that much for the same roster that just got bounced in the first round. If anything, this newfound willingness to break open the piggy bank feels like a publicity stunt in the wake of reporting that Nikola Jokić may delay signing an extension.

Jonathan Kuminga is drawing interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, according to Jake Fischer and Marc Stein of The Stein Line. While it's nice to be wanted, none of these teams are positioned to pay the 23-year-old that much money.

Cleveland and Los Angeles only have minimums available. Atlanta still has Kuminga's Bird rights after declining his $23.4 million team option but is around $10 million away from the luxury tax.

Milwaukee still has the $15 million mid-level exception to dangle and plenty of room beneath the luxury tax. Whether it wants to allocate touches to Kuminga with Nate Ament, Brayden Burries, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Tyler Herro and Ryan Rollins all still on the roster is a different story.

Sign-and-trade scenarios could emerge. The Hawks are willing to facilitate to them, per Stein and Fischer. Reading between the lines, with Cleveland toeing the second apron and unable to acquire a player via sign-and-trade, it feels like Kuminga-to-the-Lakers could be picking up steam.
