It's been another dominant first half for the United States. Despite initially struggling to find openings, their persistence and directness broke down a compact defense with eight players behind the ball. They have been quick with their passing. They have been switching the field effectively to create a variety of attacking outlets to put relentless pressure on Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Folarin Balogun found himself in the center of several major moments. He cleverly dribbled past Benfica's Amar Dedic before being taken down in the box. The officiating crew decided it wasn't enough contact to be ruled a penalty. Two minutes later, it appeared he scored after tremendous high pressing from Malik Tillman and Weston McKennie forced a turnover in a dangerous area. Balogun was just offside after McKennie connected with him to rule out the goal.

The star striker wouldn't be denied after being the United States' biggest attacking threat. An adventurous ball from Tillman deflected off two Bosnian defenders. It fell kindly to Balogun, who calmly slotted it home in between goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj's legs. He nearly scored another first-half brace after his toe poke hit the crossbar following a terrific ball from Tyler Adams that was met perfectly by Sergino Dest. While they should be leading by multiple goals, Mauricio Pochettino's side should be confident against a limited opponent that isn't built to play from behind.

In one of the wildest games of the World Cup so far, Belgium pulled off a shocking comeback to edge past Senegal by a 3-2 scoreline in extra time.

Despite Senegal enjoying a 2-0 lead heading into the game's dying moments, Belgium worked its way back into the match with two goals in three minutes before the close of the second half. In extra time, Belgium capped off the comeback with a game-winning penalty kick from Youri Tielemans.

Those three goals ran counter to how most of the contest played out, with Senegal creating the vast majority of the chances. Early in the match, Senegal set up shop in Belgium's area, getting a goal from Habib Diarra to kick off the festivities. Without a balanced press and with plenty of sloppy play, Rudi Garcia's Belgium team spent the first stretch of the match pinned far too deep.

In the second half, Senegal doubled the lead via Ismaïla Sarr in the 51st minute. Still, Belgium clawed its way back thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Tielemans, two strikes that came despite manager Garcia subbing Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku before the hour mark. Belgium, for all of its struggles, had equalized. That wasn't all for the Europeans, who triumphed in the added period thanks to a penalty from Tielemans, sending them through to the next round.

Belgium will somehow advance to the Round of 16, where they'll take on the winner of the United States' battle with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In a matchup that looked destined to be a close battle in Seattle, it's been anything but.

Senegal dominated most of the first half, controlling things in Belgium's third and creating chances with clever service. Habib Diarra's goal in the 25th minute capped off a lengthy sequence of advanced Senegal possession, and that was far from the only such spell in the opening period. With long switches out to the wings and runners in the box, Senegal have turned their field position into chances.

Belgium have looked out of sync. They've rarely tried to press – and when they have, it's looked individualistic rather than cohesive. Even when they pushed forward after the hydration break, clear-cut looks on goal have been few and far between. With Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne on the field, a goal is never too far away for Belgium. But they need a spark, and quickly.

It was the furthest thing from easy, but England came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over DR Congo. It was Harry Kane's brace that made the difference for England in yet another showing that reinforced the idea that this summer's tournament is being defined by its biggest stars.

To start, DR Congo looked like the more impressive outfit. Brian Cipenga's goal opened the scoring, giving DR Congo a surprising lead – one that nearly doubled when Yoane Wissa's strike hit the woodwork before halftime. DR Congo wasn't afraid to push numbers towards Jordan Pickford's goal in the first half, and they were eager to capitalize on all of England's early sloppiness.

Still, England wouldn't be denied. Kane, who nearly drew a penalty before halftime, and England started to create chances through clever wing play and smart runs into the box. New Manchester City signing Elliot Anderson showed off his tireless motor, too, helping England recover the ball.

Then, between a calm headed finish and a powerful right-footed strike, Kane helped his team back into the game. The England captain scored a long-awaited equalizer in the 75th minute before giving his side the lead in the 86th. From there, England saw out the result.

While DR Congo should be proud of their effort, they'll have to wait another four years before being back at this stage. England only will have to wait until July 5th, when they take on Mexico at the famed Estadio Azteca in the Round of 16.

After 45 minutes, DR Congo lead England 1-0 and have made an impressive account of themselves. Unafraid to keep possession against Thomas Tuchel's star-studded outfit, Brian Cipenga's goal in the seventh minute opened the scoring. Yoane Wissa nearly added another in the 42nd minute.

England, for their part, started incredibly slowly. Sloppy play in buildup and loose touches in the attacking half made for a poor response to Cipenga's opener. Still, as you'd expect from a team with their level of quality, England did find themselves threatening Lionel Mpasi-Nzau's goal later in the half. Noni Madueke's dribbling on the right wing has been effective so far, as has Declan Rice's clever off-ball movement. England started to find chances towards the end of the first half, with Harry Kane nearly drawing a penalty. Will they find a way back into this one in the second half?
