Canada vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina Live World Cup 2026 Updates, Scores and Highlights

Neither Canada nor Bosnia and Herzegovina could grab a big three points in Group B on Friday, playing out a 1-1 draw.

Despite a great chance for Canada's Jonathan David, it was Jovo Lukić who broke the deadlock for Bosnia after converting Sead Kolašinac's flick on from a corner to give the Dragons a half-time lead.

Canada came out brightly in the second half. A glorious team move from Canada in the 53rd minute split the Bosnia defense open, and while Richie Laryea's shot had Nikola Vasilj beaten, Kolašinac made a remarkable intervention to divert the ball onto the bar.

Bosnia's back line came up huge once again just after the hour, with Nikola Katić keeping Tani Oluwaseyi's goal-bound effort out with a vital clearance. 

Canada continued to probe and test, and they finally got a reward after 78 minutes when substitute Cyle Larin corralled the ball on the edge of the box before spinning and firing a deflected shot past Vasilj's trailing left hand. 

The final 10 minutes were end-to-end as each side hunted a winner, and Canada could have won it late, but Larin was unable to get his shot through a pair of sprawling Bosnian bodies. After the final whistle blew, each side had to settle for a point. 

The Maple Leafs will take heart from the performance, which featured plenty of energy and some enterprising team moves. The Dragons, on the other hand, did exactly what they set out to do: frustrate the hosts and get off the mark for the tournament.

Vasilj gets there first but still makes contact with Oluwaseyi after clearing the ball.

Jonathan David will be furious with himself. The Juventus forward had the goal at his mercy in the 17th minute, but his tame shot nestled safely into the arms of Nikola Vasilj when he should have put the Maple Leafs ahead.

Not five minutes later, a corner from Bosnia's right was flicked on by Sead Kolašinac at the near post, and a grateful Jovo Lukić was there in the middle to head in with the goal gaping. 1-0 Bosnia, slightly against the run of play. 

With half an hour gone, Canada's Tani Oluwaseyi found himself free on the right, but he couldn't keep his left-foot shot down, ballooning the ball over the bar. That was as good as it got for the hosts.

Despite being a goal down, Canada had the best of the play, with Liam Millar providing a notable threat down the left and the squad putting in the hard yards. The players have obviously been working on set-piece routines, so that could be their way back into proceedings.

Took a break from Wales to root for his home nation. Nicely done.
