Tim Tebow: 5 Reasons Tebow Will Lead Broncos to Promised Land

Bradlee RossDec 23, 2011

This Saturday, the Denver Broncos will face another opponent with Tim Tebow at the helm. Tebow will once again lead Denver to a win this week against the Buffalo Bills.

A perfect storm of factors is coming together to create the opportune situation for a big Tebow victory. The Broncos' strong rushing game in inclement weather against a weak Buffalo rushing defense is just one of such factors.

Here's why Tim Tebow will continue to "just win."

The Broncos Will Run Amok

1 of 5

Led by Tim Tebow, who has become the best rushing quarterback in the NFL (leads all quarterbacks with 610 rushing yards), the Denver Broncos lead the league in rushing, averaging 163.1 yards per game.

The forecast for Buffalo, NY this week is around 30 degree with a strong chance of snow tomorrow and Saturday. Look for more designed runs for both Tebow and the Broncos' stable of running backs in response to the harsh passing conditions.

To top it all off, the Buffalo Bills rank 29th in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing nearly 140 yards per game. It all adds up to a big day on the ground for the Broncos.

The Bills Are Spiraling Downward

2 of 5

Every year, certain teams get off to a hot start and give their fanbase hope, only to stumble down the stretch. The Buffalo Bills have filled that role in 2011.

The Bills started out the year 5-2, which was apparently impressive enough to get quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick an extension worth $59 million. The Bills won their game that week over the Washington Redskins 23-0. Since, they have lost seven straight games.

It's clear that the Bills are on a downward spiral, and it will be nearly impossible for them to get out of their funk against a team like the Broncos, who appear to be full of Holy Tebow enthusiasm.

The Broncos' Defense Will Be Rip-Roaring Mad

3 of 5

In their past seven wins, the Broncos have given up 18 points per game. In last week's loss, they gave up 41 points and over 450 yards of total offense.

A big part of the porous defensive effort was the elimination of the effectiveness of the Broncos' Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate Von Miller. Miller, who has 63 tackles and 11.5 sacks this season, was limited to just a single tackle against the New England Patriots last week.

Miller has emerged as a leader on that defense. He will be looking to make up for his ineffectiveness last week, and the rest of the defense will follow his lead.

John Fox Will Push the Right Buttons

4 of 5

Tim Tebow may be the leader of the Denver Broncos on the field, but John Fox has clearly played a huge role off of it.

The simplified offense that Denver is now using to accommodate the skills of Tebow has allowed Fox to go back to the bread and butter of his coaching style. A defensive guy, Fox made all the right moves since the team switched from Kyle Orton to Tebow, and that's a big part of why the Broncos have gone 7-2 since.

Prior to the New England game, the last time the Broncos lost was in Week 8 (45-10 to the Detroit Lions), and they followed that up with a 14-point win against Oakland and forced three turnovers in the process. That win started what would become a six-game winning streak.

Fox clearly knows how to coach this team and get the best out of them after a big loss. It will show against Buffalo.

Tebow Just Wins...Against Mediocre Teams

5 of 5

Tim Tebow has beaten seven teams as a starter for the Denver Broncos this season. Those teams have one major thing in common: Not a single one of them is in clear playoff contention. They are all mediocre teams that have at least six losses. As much deserved credit as Tebow has gotten, he hasn't been beating the creme of the crop.

Buffalo has nine losses and is in even worse shape than most of the teams Tebow has beaten. They are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and seem to have given up on their season.

Tebow will beat this team because that's what he does. He wows fans with close games against mediocre teams. He'll do so again tomorrow.
