2011 Bowl Predictions: Denard Robinson and Stars Who Will Shine

Eric BowmanDec 12, 2011

As college football prepares for bowl season, it's already easy to see which elite athletes will dominate in their respective bowl game.

It's the biggest game of the year for these teams, and nobody wants to end on a bad note.

The great leaders of the 2011 season will step up when their team needs them the most and deliver a fantastic performance.

With that said, here are five stars that will shine bright in bowl season.

Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

1 of 5

The Stanford quarterback has been outstanding this season, and in what is likely his final collegiate game, he will not disappoint.

Andrew Luck takes on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Fiesta Bowl, and he'll have no trouble against their putrid defense. The Cowboys rank 107th in total defense, which means Luck is in for a stellar performance.

This is one last chance to remind everyone why he's a lock for the No. 1 draft pick in 2012, and he'll easily come through.

Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

2 of 5

While Andrew Luck is tearing it up for Stanford, Justin Blackmon will be doing his part to keep the Cowboys competitive in the Fiesta Bowl.

For the second year in a row, Blackmon won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the nation's top wide receiver.

Since Stanford ranks 78th in the country in pass defense, Brandon Weeden will hook up with Blackmon on a number of occasions, giving the talented receiver a great send-off to his college football career.

Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

3 of 5

One of, if not the most sensational freshman player all season, Clemson's Sammy Watkins will put on a show in the Orange Bowl.

The Tigers have found a dynamic star in Watkins, and even though this is a huge game for the inexperience receiver, he's going to light up the West Virginia Mountaineers.

With 11 touchdown and over 1,100 receiving yards on the year, Watkins has the confidence to play well in the big game, and West Virginia will have a very hard time slowing him down.

Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

4 of 5

Whether you agree or disagree with Alabama being in the BCS title game, you can't deny that Trent Richardson is going to be a force on the biggest stage of them all.

The first time LSU and Alabama went head to head this season, it was a defensive slug-fest that ended with a score of 9-6. Even still, Richardson put his skills on display with 89 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards.

He's a superb athlete, who, despite going up against one of college football's best defenses, will put his team on his back and deliver an epic performance.

Denard Robinson, QB, Michigan

5 of 5

It's very debatable as to whether or not the Michigan Wolverines truly deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl, but they're in it, and they're going to perform well, especially Denard Robinson.

The dual-threat quarterback has proven time and time again that he has the clutch gene, and he'll continue to carry the load for the Wolverines.

Whether he's dominating on the ground or through the air, Robinson will be too much for Virginia Tech to handle.
