BCS Rankings 2011: Who Got Screwed in the Final Standings?
With the final BCS standings released on ESPN, there are probably some fanbases across the country even more angry today than usual at the BCS after their teams were screwed in the last Top 25 of the season.
As the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to meet in New Orleans to play for the national title in January, these are the five teams that have a major gripe with how the final standings played out.
Boise State Broncos
1 of 5Even though the Broncos annihilated the New Mexico Lobos yesterday in a 45-0 rout on the blue turf, Boise State was passed by the Arkansas Razorbacks in the standings and wasn't selected for an at-large spot to see the most successful quarterback in college football history, Kellen Moore, in the final game of his career.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
2 of 5The biggest victim of the final BCS standings is, without any doubt, Oklahoma State.
OSU obliterated Oklahoma, 44-10, in Stillwater to capture the program’s first outright Big 12 title in school history.
While all that is well and good, the Cowboys will be heading to the Fiesta Bowl instead of New Orleans.
Arkansas Razorbacks
3 of 5The BCS rule states that a conference can’t have more than two members in any of the four bowl games, and the Razorbacks catch the brunt of this one.
Arkansas will be on the outside looking in this bowl season as they go to the Cotton Bowl to play another rankings victim, Kansas State.
Kansas State Wildcats
4 of 5The Wildcats had to be shocked when the rankings were released Sunday night.
Michigan and Virginia Tech were selected to play at the Allstate Sugar Bowl instead of Kansas State, a team that only lost to No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 14 Oklahoma during the season.
TCU Horned Frogs
5 of 5After the Horned Frogs came oh-so close to making another trip to the BCS after a 56-9 win on Saturday, TCU couldn’t rise up to the necessary No. 16 rank in the standings, as they are the champion of the non-AQ Mountain West Conference.
