Plzen vs. AC Milan: Complete Preview, Live Stream, Start Time and Schedule

Tim DanielsDec 3, 2011

AC Milan has already advanced to the knockout stages of this season's UEFA Champions League. The Rossoneri will finish Group H play with a road game against Viktoria Plzen, and the Rudi have no chance of moving on to the next round.

Milan has only suffered one defeat during the group stage, and it came against Spanish superpower Barcelona. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been a force to be reckoned with, scoring four goals in as many tournament games. Kevin-Prince Boateng has scored twice.

After making it through three rounds of qualifying to earn a spot in the tournament, Viktoria Plzen was unable to make enough noise to advance. Three straight losses, including back-to-back defeats at the hands of L'equip blaugrana, doomed the Czech side.

Betting Odds: AC Milan +116, Viktoria Plzen +210, Draw +228

Player To Watch for Viktoria Plzen: F Marek Bakos

The Rudi have scored two goals during group play, and both are courtesy of Bakos. He's been Plzen's most consistent offensive threat since joining the team in 2009.

If the underdogs want to pick up a point against what's likely to be a lesser AC Milan lineup, Bakos will need to generate chances early and often.

Player To Watch for AC Milan: GK Marco Amelia

Amelia is filling in for an injured Christian Abbiati, who is dealing with a right shoulder injury and isn't expected to be ready for Tuesday's game. Amelia's picked up a clean sheet in each of the past two games, making six saves in the process.

Key Matchup: Massimiliano Allegri vs. Pavel Vrba

Since AC Milan has already advanced to the next stage, Allegri will probably use a makeshift lineup so he can give some of his regulars a rest. Vrba's squad is still trying to ensure a berth into the Europa League, so it'll be up to him to motivate his players to earn a point.

What They're Saying

There's been some turmoil within Viktoria Plzen after it was learned striker Vaclav Pilar was set to move to Wolfsburg once the new transfer window opens in January, according to Mark Doyle. Pilar has made an big impression during his time with the team, but wasn't interested in signing a new deal:

"

"However, Pilar turned down the offer of a permanent deal with Plzen and his agent has now revealed that the player did so due to already having decided to join to Wolfsburg.

"'Plzen excluded him from the squad after refusing to sign a contract,' Pila's agent, Jiri Stejskal, told DNES.cz. 'And the truth is that it has agreed to move to Wolfsburg.'"

"

Despite the game meaning relatively nothing to AC Milan, Allegri is still looking for improvement and ultimately a win on Tuesday. The Rossoneri have been in good form lately, so keeping that momentum alive is the top priority:

"

"'We still have large margin for improvement, nevertheless we’re on the right track. We put ourselves to the test every day,' he stated.

"'We have a few days to prepare for the game in Prague. We have to play and win because it's a Champions League game,' he concluded."

"

Prediction: AC Milan 2, Viktoria Plzen 1
