BCS Rankings: LSU Tigers Won't Be Bitten by Georgia's Stingy D
Some wonder whether or not the Tigers will be a lock for the No. 1 spot in the rankings heading into the BCS title game if they lose to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship.
Luckily for voters, the Tigers are going to make it easy on them.
LSU has to take on a talented Bulldogs defense that only allows 17.8 points per game. LSU didn't blow away Alabama by any means and Georgia's stout defense could give them fits in a similar fashion, right?
Not quite. Georgia isn't Alabama and even in a defensive struggle, the Bulldogs would find themselves outmatched.
LSU's defense allows a ridiculous 10.6 points per game. Isaiah Crowell is banged up and even if he were playing and at full strength, he's no Trent Richardson.
This notion that LSU is up against their equal, just as they were in the "Game of the Century" against Alabama, is preposterous.
Georgia is a talented team, but they aren't Alabama. The Bulldogs have bounced back admirably from their 0-2 start, but they haven't taken on an opponent of LSU's caliber and the Tigers have a staggering seven wins over ranked opponents, with three of them coming over opponents ranked in the Top Three.
The Tigers score 38.2 points per game and as they showed against Arkansas, they can score an onslaught of points in a hurry.
Only Alabama has been able to hang with them for all four quarters and just like every team but the Crimson Tide, LSU will force Georgia's wheels to fall off and run away with the SEC Championship.
