SEC Championship Game: 3 Bold Predictions for Georgia vs. LSU
The Georgia Bulldogs are taking on the undefeated LSU Tigers this weekend in one of the most intriguing conference championships of the season. If the Tigers win they're guaranteed a spot in the national championship game but many believe that even with a loss they're still a lock to reach the big game.
Georgia, on the other hand, is trying to pull off an upset and with a win would reach the BCS Sugar Bowl.
As we get closer to game day, it's about time to start making some predictions.
Here are a few bold predictions for the SEC Championship Game.
Aaron Murray Puts Himself on Top of the College Football Map
1 of 3A lot of people were skeptical about Aaron Murray heading into this season but he has proved a lot of the critics wrong this year. He's thrown for 2,698 yards and 31 touchdowns while completing 61 percent of his passes.
LSU only gives up 162 passing yards a game but if speedster Isaiah Crowell can break off some big plays, it should open up the passing game.
Murray has had a great season and in the last three games he's thrown for over 600 yards and nine touchdowns.
A huge performance in this game will put Aaron Murray as one of the elite quarterbacks in college football.
There Will Be 10 Total Sacks in This Game
2 of 3Both the Tigers and the Bulldogs rank at the top of the country in sacks and they're tied for first in the SEC with 32 each. The defensive lines on both teams really get after it and cause a lot of pain for opposing quarterbacks.
Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones has been a monster this season as he has racked up 13.5 sacks this season.
I predict at least 10 sacks total in this game and possibly a sack that causes a fumble that ends up being the turning point in this game.
Georgia Wins the Game and Shocks the College Football World
3 of 3I'm not sure if anybody is giving the Bulldogs a chance to win this game but they should. Georgia has won the last 10 games in a row and has the second-best passing game in the SEC behind Arkansas. The defense isn't bad either, as they only give up 271 total yards, which is the fourth best in the SEC.
Aaron Murray is playing lights-out and with playmakers like Isaiah Crowell and Malcolm Mitchell, this team can light it up in a hurry.
With the game being in Atlanta, the Bulldogs will feel right at home and may have the slight home-field advantage.
Did I mention that the Tigers are 3-6 in the last nine meetings against the Bulldogs dating back to 1991?
It's always dangerous to doubt a talented team and that's exactly what the Bulldogs are.
Georgia wins.
