Premier League Transfer Rumours: Top 12 Possible Deals of the Week
As the league starts to take shape, here's a look at some players who could be making a move in January.
Teams struggling to score, teams who can't keep a clean sheet, those chasing a place in Europe right down to those just trying to survive—we take a look at the top deals that could be happening.
Some moving between Premier League teams, some on the way in and a few on the way out. Here are the rumours floating around this week.
Jonjo Shelvey
1 of 12After a strong showing during his loan spell at Blackpool, Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is said to be enjoying his stay—and is likely to return in January as part of an extended loan deal.
Andre-Pierre Gignac
2 of 12French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is enduring a difficult time at Marseille. After a falling out with manager Didier Deschamps, a move looks like a strong possibility.
Fulham seem to be one of the clubs looking into the possibility of signing Gignac, but it is unlikely such a talented goalscorer will not have a number of teams fighting for his signature.
Didier Drogba
3 of 12Another striker likely to be making a move in the near future is Didier Drogba, after the Ivorian forward turned down a contract extension at Chelsea.
It would seem that the chances of Drogba staying in a top European league are pretty low, with his agent talking more about money and long term deals, suggesting a move away from the mainstream.
Carlos Tevez
4 of 12Carlos Tevez seems destined to move away from Manchester City very soon. His options could well be limited though, with Juventus said to have pulled away from any potential deal.
There is still a chance of a move to AC Milan, but even that could prove problematic, with Milan only wanting the striker on loan. There is a lot of negotiating ahead for all parties involved.
Gary Cahill
5 of 12Bolton defender Gary Cahill was the subject of a lot of speculation in the summer, and it is unlikely that will go away in January.
Arsenal could renew their interest in Cahill, especially as Per Mertesacker seems to be struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League, but there are more likely options for Cahill.
As Bolton continues to struggle. both Chelsea and Tottenham are very interested in the defender.
Tim Ream
6 of 12Some strong performances from Tim Ream have attracted the attention of some Premier League clubs.
The American defender is said to be having a trial with West Bromwich Albion, and that could lead to a permanent move in the future.
Tomas Rosicky
7 of 12Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky could be on his way out of the Emirates.
Potential suitors Wolfsburg are looking to improve their squad to push towards the top half of the Bundesliga.
A lack of opportunities at Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger tries to rejuvenate his squad, could help seal a move back to Germany for the Czech midfielder.
Rasmus Elm
8 of 12One of the big reports that is emerging into the Premier League this week is that of Rasmus Elm.
The AZ Alkmaar star has become a top target for Manchester United—especially now that Cleverly and Anderson have been ruled out until February.
Sebastien Squillaci
9 of 12Sebastien Squillaci is struggling to hold down a first-team place at Arsenal, despite their well-published defensive problems earlier this year.
With the potential arrival of Gary Cahill in January, Squillaci could find himself on the move to somewhere a little warmer.
Espanyol seem like the most likely suitor for the defender.
Nikaca Jelavic
10 of 12Rangers striker Nikaca Jelavic has been in fantastic goalscoring form for the Scottish champions, and that is likely earn him a move south of the border to England.
Scoring goals in Scotland by no means guarantees success in the Premier League, which is why Jelavic will be signing for a team struggling for goals—or just struggling in general.
Swansea have expressed an interest, but other teams that are struggling for goals could be interested in the Croatian.
Wesley Sneijder
11 of 12With Anderson ruled out for around four months and Tom Cleverly still out, Manchester United could renew their interest in Wesley Sneijder.
Falling behind Manchester City and being caught by Tottenham could force United into transfer action. The signing of Sneijder would not be a big surprise for United as they push to make up lost ground.
Aly Cissokho
12 of 12Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho is a player that I have mentioned before when it comes to transfers.
With Lyon still suffering from financial troubles, Cissokho is almost certain to be one player on the move as the French club looks to even out the books.
