Alabama Football: OK State's Mike Gundy Says Tide Should Be Higher Than Cowboys
You know it's not a college football season if there isn't controversy, and as always, it starts at the top of the BCS Rankings.
This year, many fans and critics don't like the fact that LSU and Alabama are the top two teams in the country.
They've already played, and LSU won the game, so many believe that Alabama should lose any shot at the national title.
Oklahoma State is currently the No. 3 team in the country, and it only has one loss as well. There are people who think the Cowboys should play the Tigers in the national championship.
According to NewsOK.com, head coach Mike Gundy isn't one of them, as he believes the voters got it right.
"“If somebody sat me down and said (I) had to make a decision," Gundy said, "with where we're at right now, Alabama lost to what would be the No. 1 team in the country (LSU), and Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State.
“In our situation, if I was doing it fair, I don't know how I could put us in front of (Alabama) right now," he said.
"
Whether fans want to admit it or not, he is absolutely right.
Alabama only lost to LSU, and it came in overtime by a field goal. Some say because the Crimson Tide lost, they are overrated.
But, somebody had to lose the game, and it doesn't mean they are less of a team.
Oklahoma State, on the other hand, lost to Iowa State. The same team that barely beat Iowa State and Connecticut. The Cyclones are also a team that is ranked in the 80s in points scored and points allowed.
They are a subpar team, and one that a national championship contender should handle fairly easily.
Many just want to see the Cowboys in the national championship because fans love high scoring, and Oklahoma State is just that. A rematch between LSU and Alabama would be another defensive bloodbath with very few points scored.
That's not as sexy as eight touchdowns scored by one team.
Fans have complained for years that the BCS never gets it right and have been crying for a playoff. This time, it appears that the voters have gotten it right with LSU and Alabama as the top two teams.
Even head coach Gundy agrees.
