NBA Free Agent Rumors: Free Agents That Would Destroy Your Team

Donald WoodNov 27, 2011

While there is a plethora of talented stars on the free-agent market, owners and coaching staff need to be smart when finding the right player. They need to find a player who won’t destroy the team.

This may seem blatantly obvious to the fans, but some basketball masterminds feel they can take any player and turn him into a company man. That’s not always the case.

The following players will be overpaid this offseason and will add little to their teams. Just hope your team doesn’t snag one of these drama queens.

Kris Humphries

It’s just a matter of time before Kris Humphries' name is thrown into the pool of free-agent players who have something to offer. But he doesn’t.

If it wasn’t for Kim Kardashian in the offseason, we wouldn't consider him more than a role player for a contending team.

Humphries had a taste of stardom during the lockout, so expect him to sign with a major market team where he can act like Adam Morrison on the bench.

Delonte West

While Delonte West is a solid point guard, he doesn’t have what it takes to lead a team anywhere.

As we saw with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics, West has a tendency to be hurt for most of the season and come up small in the playoffs.

West’s best choice would be to go to a mediocre team that can relieve any pressure on him. He could just go out and play the game as he does—with reckless abandonment.

Tracy McGrady

The Detroit Pistons imploded last season because of dissension in the ranks of their veteran players. The problem? Tracy McGrady.

McGrady had very public issues with the team and the coaching staff, and it was his poor behavior that split the team apart.

The lack of help from the team got head coach John Kuester fired in the offseason. Not many coaches will want to take that risk.
