Notre Dame vs. Stanford Football: Cardinal Will Be Too Much for Irish To Handle
The No. 6 Stanford Cardinal go into their final game of the season taking on a red-hot No. 22 Notre Dame Irish team that hopes to take a shot at these Cardinal. Yet in the end, the Irish will undoubtedly fall short.
The Cardinal have arguably one of the best offenses in the nation, led by the top NFL prospect in all of college football in quarterback Andrew Luck.
Luck has been just short of sensational this season for his Cardinal, throwing for 2,937 yards and 31 touchdowns on the year. He has also completed a whopping 70.3 percent of his passes on the season.
Luck ranks No. 8 in college football in completion percentage, No. 6 in touchdowns and No. 5 in quarterback rating.
As a result, these Cardinal are one of the better offenses in all of college football and have been on a tear this season.
These 10-1 Cardinal take on the Irish, which is a team on the rise as of late. The Irish have won eight of their last nine games after losing the first two games of the season. On a four-game win streak going into this matchup, it is for certain that these Cardinal cannot, by many means, take the Irish lightly.
Not to mention the Irish are currently ranked No. 22 in points per game allowed, giving up just 20.3 points per contest to opponents.
Yet it's Stanford who should get the best of Notre Dame in this matchup, ranking in the top 25 in passing yards, rushing yards and points scored per game. Putting up 45 points a contest, the Cardinal are No. 4 in the nation when it comes to scoring.
Luck will be a big-time factor in what should be a victory won in the final quarter of play, as he has proven all season that he is capable of winning games. Expect the Cardinal to pull out the victory late, winning in a thriller over the Irish.
