Alabama vs. Auburn: Defense Will Lead to Crimson Tide's Easy Win

Josh SchochNov 25, 2011

The 2011 Iron Bowl between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers is roughly 30 minutes away, and it's pretty clear that Alabama's defense will help them to a rout of the Tigers.

These two teams have different styles of play. Alabama has the best defense in the nation, while Auburn tries to simply outscore their opponents while giving up over 28 points per game. They say defense wins championships, but offense wins games, and this game is more of a championship.

Alabama's defense will help them roll over the Tigers and secure a spot in the national championship game.

Alabama allows a mere 8.4 points per game. They have not allowed more than 14 points in a game this season, and they gave up only nine points to No. 1 LSU in an overtime thriller.

Bama's secondary is comprised of future NFL players and is one of the best we've seen in history. They also have the linemen to bottle up the run or pressure quarterbacks, recording 11 interceptions and 23 sacks on the year.

The Crimson Tide can stop any offense in the country, and Auburn's is no different.

Because The Tigers will not be able to score their usual 25 points against Alabama, they will be forced to rely on their porous defense.

The Tigers allow over 28 points per game, while the Crimson Tide score over 35 points per game. Heisman candidate Trent Richardson will be able to run all over the Tigers, while quarterback A.J. McCarron can punish them if they stack the box.

This Nick Saban-lead team could beat a few NFL teams (the Indianapolis Colts), and they will have no problem beating Auburn. Despite being on the road in front of a sellout crowd, the Crimson Tide will keep their poise and beat Auburn handily in one of the most lopsided Iron Bowls we have ever seen.
