Week 13 College Football Picks: Michigan and More Teams Guaranteed to Cover
With two weeks left in the college football season, the point spreads are getting harder and harder to choose one team over another. However, when you see a spread of Michigan giving seven points to Ohio State this week, it’s a no brainer to take the Wolverines.
In a rivalry that has a rich history of great games, this one will see Michigan’s defense keep Ohio State’s offense off the scoreboard. All the while, their offense will continue to put up points on the Buckeyes defense.
For Michigan, they are averaging 33 points per game compared to Ohio State’s 24. Michigan can put up points on any of their offensive possessions, because of an offense led by quarterback Denard Robinson. Whereas Ohio State has struggled this year putting up points behind an offense that ranks 118th in passing yards per game.
The Ohio State defense has done a lot for this Buckeyes team this year. However, against Michigan, they will not be able to keep them competitive past the third quarter in this game.
Michigan will dominate their game this week, and so will the Baylor Bears over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Baylor and Texas Tech both have one thing in common this year: they beat the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas Tech did it in Oklahoma, while Baylor did it in front of their fans in Texas. However, while Texas Tech’s win was looked upon as a fluke, Baylor’s was a great performance from an explosive offense. That is why, this week, Robert Griffin III will lead an onslaught performance from Baylor over Texas Tech.
On the year, Griffin III has been the reason why Baylor ranks fifth overall in passing offense and 10th overall in points per game. This makes for a dangerous combination for a Red Raiders defense that ranks 113th in average points given up this year.
So, this week, we get a Baylor team that is averaging 40 points per game against a Texas Tech team that is giving up 39 points per game with a point spread of Baylor favored by 14.
Take the Bears, Wolverines and the USC Trojans this week.
The Trojans would be on their way in playing in the first Pac 12 Conference football championship game. However, NCAA sanctions will keep this great season from reaching its potential.
This week, against the Trojans’ rival, the UCLA Bruins, they are favored by 16 points. This is an amazing line to take, as just like the Baylor-Texas Tech game, USC has one of the best offenses while UCLA has an awful defense.
USC enters this game averaging 35 points per game, while UCLA is giving up 29 points per game. This makes for an easy win for a USC team that is way more talented than UCLA.
Take the Trojans this week, as they will have quarterback Matt Barkley put more doubt into NFL scouts as to who is the better prospect. After Barkley puts up another big game, the debate will rage on as to who should be drafted first, Barkley or Stanford’s Andrew Luck.
These three teams will all win this week and they will cover easily. Take them with their point spreads and feel comfortable with your wager on these games.
