Week 13 College Football Predictions: LSU Tigers Will Blow out Arkansas

Josh SchochNov 25, 2011

The LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks play today with the winner essentially guaranteed a spot in the BCS National Championship Game. Many college football fans are clamoring for a playoff-system in the NCAA, and this is as close as we'll get this year.

The Tigers are the No. 1 team in the country, while the Razorbacks are No. 3. This all-SEC showdown will give one team a trip to the BCS Title Game, and that team will be LSU.

The Tigers have the second-best defense in the nation, allowing only 10.0 points per game, including six to No. 2 Alabama in an overtime-thriller.

This team has beaten six Top 25 teams, including two teams who were ranked in the top three at the time. The Tigers have been the most dominant team we have seen in years, and will continue that trend against the Razorbacks.

Arkansas should not be ranked No. 3 in the nation, as there are several teams better than them who are ranked behind them. The reason they are so high is because most other teams lost last week, yet that does not make them better than them.

The Razorbacks will not be able to score against LSU's second-ranked defense or stop their Top 15 offense. This game is not going to be close, and possibly the easiest way to tell is to compare what these teams did against common opponents.

The most important game the two teams shared was in Tuscaloosa against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Arkansas lost that game 38-14.  While they did relatively well against the best defense in the country, they could not stop Bama's offense.

LSU, on the other hand, was able to fend off the Tide, holding them to six points and shutting them down in overtime. Their offense was not as successful as Arkansas', but they were able to get the job done, kicking three field goals to win the game.

All indications point to LSU winning this game, and the fact that they are playing at home can only help. The Tigers have always scored at least 35 points and not allowed more than 10 at home, and they will continue their dominance today.
