Breaking Down New Air Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement Shoes

Kyle VassaloNov 25, 2011

It's been a wild November, and Jordan didn't miss out on an opportunity to drop another incredible shoe on Black Friday.

The new Air Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement shoes drop today and if you're thinking, "It's going to be just like the first two editions of the shoe," you're absolutely right.

Even so, this model is the best of the three and though the differences between the three versions of this shoe are subtle, this video does a great job of highlighting exactly what they've altered.

Let's take a closer look at the shoe and see how this one grades out.

Originality: 1 out of 10

This shoe doesn't offer people anything they didn't see when the first two editions dropped. There are slight changes, but ultimately, it's like a relaunch of the same shoe.

If you didn't like it the first two times, you aren't going to like it now. If you loved it back in 2001, you are going to think this version is awesome as well.

People who haven't heard about this shoe dropping might walk down the street, see you with these shoes tomorrow and think that they've seen them before, even though they're brand new.

Design: 9 out of 10

If you are a big fan of the classic Jordan look, you've got to love these shoes. These shoes are the epitome of everything a good Jordan shoe should be. They've got one of the many forms of elephant print featured in this shoe, the classic jumpman air taking up nearly the entire back of the shoe and the orange jumpman against a grey background on the tongue.

People might have been spooked by the flashiness of the "Doernbecher" earlier in the month, but this shoe is an approachable shoe that a wider audience can enjoy.

Once again, Jordan hits it out of the park with this shoe. They are sort of reinventing the wheel here, but this classic shoe was worth tweaking and improving.

Overall Swag Grade: 9 out of 10

Of all the shoes Jordan dropped this month, this one ranks near the top of the pack. For those who were turned off by the pizzazz of the "Doernbecher" and thought the Air Jordan 1 KO Premiums that dropped this month were too boring, this shoe provides the perfect middle ground.

The swag is through the roof on these shoes. They aren't much different than the versions that hit stores in 2001 and 2008, but why fix it if it's not broken?

This is a great shoe and though it's not worthy of a 10 out of 10 in any category, it's certainly worth the purchase.
