College Football Picks Against the Spread: 5 Bets You Can't Afford Not to Make
There’s no way that Week 13 can live up to the wild weekend that we just saw in Week 12.
Who would have thought that Oklahoma State, Oregon and Oklahoma would all fall on the same weekend?
Obviously, the gentlemen in Las Vegas didn’t see it coming, because all three teams were heavy double-digit favorites.
It just goes to show that on any given college football weekend, anything can happen.
If you happen to be one of the betting folks who invested heavily in the Cowboys, the Ducks or the Sooners, have no fear.
Here are five Week 13 bets that will help you earn your money back.
Wisconsin (-14.5) vs. Penn State
1 of 6It was good to see Penn State get a win last weekend and it’s good to see the seniors get one more big victory under their belts, because that’ll be the last one of their careers.
QB Russell Wilson, RB Montee Ball and the rest of the Badgers have their eyes set on Indianapolis, and they’re not going to let anyone get in their way of winning the Leaders Division.
The Nittany Lions have been successful up until this point by relying on their defense but, the fact is, their offense just isn’t strong enough to keep up with Wisconsin's powerful attack for all four quarters.
Florida State (-2) at Florida
2 of 6Florida State couldn’t get the job done against Virginia last week, but maybe that was because the Seminoles were looking ahead to their battle with in-state rival Florida.
The ‘Noles have been one of the forgotten-about teams, since they dropped out of the Top 10 earlier in the season, but they’re still playing stout defense in Tallahassee and it doesn’t look like Florida has the type of offense this year that can do a lot of consistent damage.
Last season, Florida State got its first win against the Gators in seven years, and now it looks like Jimbo Fisher’s crew wants to start a new trend in the rivalry.
Notre Dame (+6.5) at Stanford
3 of 6Somehow, some way, Notre Dame still has the opportunity to put together a double-digit win campaign if the 8-3 Irish can win their final two games.
That will be easier said than done, though, especially with a trip out west to take on Andrew Luck and Stanford looming.
The Saturday showdown between the Catholics and the Cardinal has the chance to be the most entertaining game of the weekend.
Stanford star quarterback Andrew Luck had one of his worst games of the season against Notre Dame in last year’s meeting. The junior signal-caller threw for just 238 yards and got picked off twice.
Brian Kelly’s team is definitely dangerous, and Stanford better be ready for a battle this weekend.
Michigan (-7) vs. Ohio State
4 of 6Michigan hasn’t beaten Ohio State since 2003, but that could be about to change now that Brady Hoke is in charge.
The Wolverines are riding high after beating Nebraska last week, and it looks like they finally have the pieces on the defensive side of the ball to really challenge Ohio State, which hasn’t been the same team that we saw dominate the Big Ten for the better part of the last decade.
The Buckeyes are stuck in a bit of a down, transition year this season, and they look to be ripe for the taking.
Vanderbilt (-1.5) at Wake Forest
5 of 6Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin seems like he’s overly serious about every single thing in life, whether it’s winning football games or picking up milk at the grocery store, and those are the kinds of coaches I want leading the teams I pick.
Franklin has been telling the Commodores all week how important this game against Wake Forest is.
It’s not often that Vanderbilt gets to go to a bowl game, but if Franklin’s team beats the Demon Deacons, they’ll be 6-6 and bowl eligible.
