College Football Injury Report: Updates on the Biggest Week 12 Injuries
Injuries are a sad thing to witness in sports, but unfortunately, in football it's all part of the game. With conference championships and bowl games just around the corner, the last thing a team needs is an injury to a key player.
Week 12 was full of injuries to key players, and it may affect who reaches a BCS bowl game or who wins the conference title games.
Here are five early updates on some of the injuries.
Clemson WR Sammy Watkins
1 of 5Sammy Watkins has been a key part in the Tigers' success, and they will need him for the ACC Championship Game. He injured his shoulder in the game against Wake Forest and did not play last week in the loss against North Carolina State.
The early status update for Watkins is that he is questionable for the big game against 12th-ranked South Carolina.
Although the Tigers don't necessarily need this win, it would be nice to build some momentum going into the conference title game.
Notre Dame RB Jonas Gray
2 of 5No. 22 Notre Dame was just getting its season back on track as the Irish recently climbed back in the BCS Top 25. Their success comes at a price as senior running back Jonas Gray has a knee injury and many fear it's a torn ACL.
Gray was enjoying his most successful season at Notre Dame as he's rushed for over 700 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
Cincinnati QB Zach Collaros
3 of 5Zach Collaros went down at the wrong time as the Bearcats are trying to reach a BCS bowl game. He went down with a broken ankle that required surgery, and he will miss the remainder of the season.
That now leaves things up to sophomore quarterback Munchie Legaux, who has thrown for 363 yards and two interceptions this season.
This injury now opens the door for a few other teams in the Big East to reach a BCS bowl game.
South Florida QB B.J. Daniels
4 of 5Daniels sprained his shoulder last week in the loss to the Miami Hurricanes and will have an MRI later today. Head coach Skip Holtz says he will wait and see if he can go before making a decision for the big game against Louisville.
He has had a much-improved season this year, throwing for 2,378 yards and 12 touchdowns. If he can't play, it would be a big blow to a South Florida team that needs one more win to become bowl eligible.
Texas A&M RB Cyrus Gray
5 of 5Gray missed the second half against the Kansas Jayhawks with a shoulder injury. As of now, he is ruled questionable for the big game against the Texas Longhorns on Thanksgiving.
He is third in the Big 12 with 1,045 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He is the Aggies' leading rusher, and if he can't go, junior back Christine Michael will get the majority of the carries.
