BCS Rankings: Oklahoma Sooners and More Teams Being Screwed by Voters

Tim DanielsNov 21, 2011

There is rarely a major difference between the computer and voter rankings for any given team. For whatever reason though, there is always a handful of schools that see a large disparity between the two. Here are three teams that should be ranked higher based on the heartless computer standings.

No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma dropped four spots after its road loss to Baylor, leaving the Sooners behind non-power conference underdogs Boise State and Houston. The good news is that they are still the top-ranked team with two losses.

The computers believe the Sooners' strong schedule, including wins over Baylor and Florida State, is still enough for them to be ahead of ahead of the Broncos and Cougars. Oklahoma will get a chance to leapfrog those teams when they play rival Oklahoma State in two weeks.

Computer Average: No. 6

No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State picked up a solid win vs. Texas on Saturday but only moved up two spots despite the chaos the ensued around the country. That's a sharp difference from the computers, which think the Wildcats are a Top 5 team.

Their only losses came against the aforementioned Sooners and Cowboys while also racking up wins against Baylor and Texas A&M. With just one game left in the regular season (Iowa State), the Wildcats probably don't have enough time to win over enough voters.

Computer Average: No. 5

No. 18 Baylor Bears

The Bears have three losses, so it's hard for them to complain without hearing about how much more they could have done. However, Baylor deserved a bigger jump after knocking off Oklahoma. There are even two computers that rank them inside the top 10 after Saturday's marquee win.

Even though Robert Griffin is having an awe-inspiring season, he'll probably be overlooked in the Heisman Trophy race because his team isn't a bigger BCS contender. So it's like a double whammy for Baylor fans.

Computer Average: No. 13
