Alabama Football: Ducks Quack for the Last Time, End Discussion over BCS Game
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) For all the sportswriters who don't understand football, for all those who loved to write why Alabama won't make the BCS Championship Game, they are now down to their last shed of dignity in trying to explain why Alabama won't be or shouldn't be in the game now.
The Ducks were simply run out of their own stadium at one point, trailing by 38-14 until finally finding some of that offense against the 49th rated defense to make it a game.
Perhaps now the world of college pretenders will finally give way to college championship contenders and jealousy or the want of change over which conference clearly owns the BCS, will finally and simply go away.
Alabama and LSU and perhaps Arkansas are simply the three best teams in the country.
As much as reporters outside the SEC don't want to admit it, they know that either of these teams would simply own any conference they played in outside the SEC.
All the offense all the other schools in other conferences want to brag about doesn't mean a thing when you line up against an SEC team and get hit in the mouth. All that offense sputters to a stop and those poor guys that line up in what they call a defense simply gets the ball run down their throat.
There's football and then there's power football.
Just like there's contenders and pretenders. This year, it has been painfully obvious to intelligent sportswriters which are which.
Given enough time, it's now painfully obvious to everyone.
