Boise State Football Video: Watch Pathetic Music Video to Broncos' Kicker Needs
Boise State fans all handled the team's loss to TCU differently. After all, it did kill Boise's BCS National Championship Game dreams. One of the more unique responses came from Broncos fan Steve Cash, who wrote a song about the repeated kicking failures of recent seasons.
The video is embedded above.
It's a catchy tune in the same way “Ice Ice Baby” captivated minds. That is, you wanted to get it out of your head as quickly as possible, but couldn't.
There are also some weird things within the video that make you scratch your head.
When he shows the BCS rankings from ESPN, Oregon is highlighted as a favorite team along with the Broncos. How can a Boise fan cheer for a BCS rival that was attempting to steal your spot? Come on, man!
One line talks about kicking a field goal and says “when we can't even kick it past the 35-yard line to score.” First of all, you have to kick it through the uprights to score. Secondly, a 52-yard field goal is no gimme to begin with.
He makes mention of Kellen Moore being a senior, but proceeds to say fixing the kicker position is the biggest flaw. Without Moore, the Broncos likely won't be in position for a kicker to have such a major impact on the game in the first place.
“Second best is never going to make it,” Cash goes on to say. Well, actually second best would land them in the title game, which was the point of the entire video.
I know the main reason for the gaffes is coming up with lyrics to go with the music, but if you want a video to go viral, it needs to either be more factually sound or make people laugh uncontrollably.
Even though it was a good effort, there's room for improvement. I'm sure there's more pissed off Broncos fans looking to show their anger, so maybe something better is on the horizon.
