Lee Corso Apology: College GameDay Analyst Shouldn't Be Punished for F-Bomb

Headgear aficionado Lee Corso went a little bit over the top on ESPN's College GameDay this morning, dropping an F-Bomb before switching his pick. Even though it was a poor lapse in judgment, Corso shouldn't be punished for the mistake.

About mid-way through the first quarter of Michigan vs. Nebraska, Corso apologized for his error and promised it will never happen again. You could tell he was genuinely embarrassed and remorseful, which is a big enough penalty for a slip of the tongue.

Corso's marquee game pick is one of ESPN's trademark segments, and it's not worth losing it over one mistake.

It's actually somewhat surprising expletives don't get dropped more often on live television. Language that many people use outside of their work environment would seemingly slip out at a higher rate, especially in the fast-paced business of live TV.

Corso will probably receive a few stern phone calls from ESPN officials throughout the week to let it be known a similar slip can't happen again, but I think his face during the apology says it all. It won't happen again.

And at the end of the day, that's all that really matters. What happened today can't be taken back, so as long as Corso doesn't do it again, everything should blow over.

Fans might not agree with his outlook on games, but it's hard to deny his entertainment level. Would College GameDay really be the same without Corso making 50 percent of the viewing audience lash out at their TV? Probably not.

Everybody makes mistakes and Corso's just happened to be in front of a huge audience. Hopefully those who were offended can forgive him and everyone can just move on.

It is the holiday season after all.
