Why Tim Tebow Will Lead Denver to Wild-Card Berth

Kyle VassaloNov 18, 2011

Critics will keep finding reasons why Tim Tebow won't succeed, and every week he will continue proving them wrong while he carries the Broncos all the way to the playoffs.

Tebow wasn't supposed to be able to take down the Jets, because Rex Ryan of all people knows how to structure the 46 defense to stop the option, and Tebow would be forced to throw.

Tebow rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown, throwing for just 104 yards on nine total completions, but he managed to come away with a victory.

Just as the Broncos thought when they drafted him in the first round, he has it.

The critics will write off this win, just as they have downplayed Tebow's victories over the Raiders, Dolphins and Chiefs. The only logical explanation for Tebow's success in their minds is that the teams he is facing are inadequate.

Upon taking down the Jets, Tebow haters immediately said the Jets weren't as good as we thought they were. The fact of the matter is, winning four out of his last five starts, after the Broncos started off 1-2 behind Kyle Orton, shows that Tebow has what it takes to take his team to the playoffs.

Tebow has completely transformed the run game. The spread option they are running is right in his wheel house, and out of nowhere, the Broncos are now rushing for 154.9 YPG, ranking fourth in the entire NFL

The Broncos are now at 5-5, and with the Bengals and Ravens squaring off this week, one of them is going to slip to 6-4. Without even having a full season to work with, Tebow has his team on the brink of snagging a Wild-Card spot, as well as winning the AFC West outright.

The way he's winning isn't pretty, and the passing game looks ugly at best. When he was drafted, he wasn't a first-round pick because of what he could do in the pocket though. Josh McDaniels and the previous regime recognized the intangibles and went for it.

It's unclear what it is about Tebow that makes him a winner. There are a lot of reasons to believe the success will be short-lived and someone will figure out a way to completely neutralize the polarizing quarterback.

There is no telling how much John Fox and John Elway actually buy into Tebow as a quarterback or if his NFL future is in Denver.

What is clear is that he is winning. If he takes the Broncos to the playoffs this season and management decides to part ways with him, there will undoubtedly be some team who feels confident enough in him to hand him a starting job.

People can't figure out what it is about him that makes him so special, but all 32 teams could use some more of it in their locker room.
