College Football Week 12: Who's Hot, Who's Not in the Big Ten
For the Big Ten teams, it's been a roller coaster of a ride this season. There have been a lot of upsets. There have also been jaw-dropping wins and raw emotions displayed.
Michigan State pulled an amazing win over Iowa. Nebraska beat Penn State in their last home game. Purdue shocked Ohio State in overtime.
At Week 12, here is who's hot and who's not for the Big Ten teams.
Cold: Penn State
1 of 6Before their game against Nebraska, Penn State was on a seven game winning streak. They overcame and beat Iowa and Northwestern
In the game against Nebraska, Penn State struggled with the ball throughout the course of the game. They did pretty well in holding the Cornhuskers' offense, but it wasn't enough. Though they currently hold the lead in the Leaders Division, ahead of Wisconsin, it might not be for long.
Their last two games are against Ohio State and No. 17 Wisconsin, both of them on the road. The winner of the Leaders Division might come on the line when they face Wisconsin, in the last game of the season.
With a hard loss from their last home game, Penn State might just finish out cold.
Hot: Wisconsin
2 of 6After losing two back-to-back games against Michigan State and Ohio State, the Badgers are on a two game winning streak after pummeling their opponents. They've been rushing the ball well and fighting to get the No. 1 spot in their division.
They just need to hope Penn State loses and they keep winning. They face Penn State in the last game of the season, and they may have all the momentum going in, considering it will be their last home game.
Penn State isn't going to have a chance against the Badger's home field. Wisconsin is hot enough to win it all.
Cold: Ohio State
3 of 6Ohio State was fighting to stay alive in the Leaders Division and compete with Wisconsin and Penn State to get to the top. However, the overtime loss against Purdue allowed the Boilermakers to take the lead over them and killed their chances to win the division.
The Buckeyes have two games left against ranked teams, one at home and one away. They have been up and down all season, so it's going to be a roller coaster ride until the end with them.
Hot: Northwestern
4 of 6After a five game losing streak in the middle of the season, no one expected Northwestern to turn the wheels and start winning games.
The Wildcats are on a three game winning streak and while it's not enough to win the division, their wins can change the outcome of who the winner is for the Legends Division. They knocked Nebraska out of the three-way tie for first place to second.
They have a chance to knock Michigan State off the top during their last game of the season at home. The Wildcats are hot enough to create upsets within their division.
Cold: Nebraska
5 of 6After pulling an amazing win over Michigan State, Nebraska lost to Northwestern at home.
Not only that; they lost to a backup quarterback who rushed for two touchdowns and threw for one against a defense that held the Spartans offense in check. Plus, they were unranked. It was a back and forth game, but the Wildcats killed them.
Nebraska barely rebounded, with a close win at Penn State. The Cornhuskers are cold, and the win against Michigan this upcoming game will probably ignite their fires again.
Unless Iowa knocks them back down at home, like the Wildcats did.
Hot: Michigan State
6 of 6After losing to Nebraska on their last of four tough back-to-back games, Michigan State lost the lead of the Legends Division.
They rebounded with a close win over Minnesota and an amazing, revenge-is-best-served-cold win over Iowa. They are currently the leader of the Legends Division again and they are two wins away to winning the division.
These two wins are important because the Michigan State is one win ahead of Nebraska and Michigan—who play each other this upcoming week.
Considering the Spartans remaining schedule—if they can win it out against Northwestern on the road like they did to Iowa—they will be traveling to Indy and fighting for the Big Ten Conference title.
The Spartans are sizzling.
