Boise State Upset: We're Just One Oklahoma State Loss Away from LSU-Alabama

For the Alabama Crimson Tide, it's one down and one to go.

Thanks to Boise State kicker Dan Goodale offering up the mother of all shank jobs on the Broncos' attempted game-winning field goal, the TCU Horned Frogs knocked Boise State from the BCS picture with a dramatic 36-35 victory.

That's great news for the Tide, who now sit only one Oklahoma State loss away from likely heading to the BCS Championship Game and a rematch against LSU.

That loss for the Cowboys can happen.

That's the only hurdle left for Alabama to climb.

The likes of an undefeated Boise State leapfrogging a one-loss Alabama were slim anyway, but now the Crimson Tide have one less thing to worry about.

There was a chance that Stanford could leapfrog Alabama in this week's BCS Rankings, but that's looking more and more like it won't happen either.

That leaves Alabama as the highest ranked of all the remaining one-loss teams—something that's unlikely to change by the end of the season.

That makes the new Game of the Year the December 3 showdown in Stillwater between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 2 Oklahoma State—otherwise known as Bedlam—and Bedlam it will surely be.

Every Alabama fan will soon have a vested interest in rooting for the Sooners. All it will take is a Sooners win, and with neither Alabama nor Oklahoma heading to a conference championship game, the likes of anyone overtaking Alabama is slim.

Game of the Century II? It can happen.

Even though the Cowboys look unstoppable at the moment, they have had a difficult time in the past defeating their in-state rivals. Having the game at home is a bonus for Oklahoma State, but don't discount Landry Jones and company from going on the road and coming away with a win.

For one, this will be the biggest game the Cowboys have ever played in. The pressure will be a little more on their shoulders once they get so close to their ultimate goal of making the BCS Championship Game.

There's also the fact that Bedlam will pretty much be as close to a national championship game as the Sooners will see this year. Even if they are without wide receiver Ryan Broyles, expect the Sooners' best effort.

If you can't play for the championship, the next best thing is keeping one of your rivals from competing for it.

Just a few weeks ago we had a handful of teams that sat undefeated, all waiting to claim their spot in the BCS Championship Game. As the dominoes continue to fall, there only remains one domino left to drop for a rematch between the probable two best teams.
