NBA Video Highlights: The Best 10 Dunkers in the NBA Today
LeBron James plays above the rim. Derek Rose can climb the ladder with any big man in the league. Dwight Howard is the most physically imposing player in the league, and he isn't afraid to dunk on anybody that gets in his way.
The NBA is full of high fliers, sky walkers and rim rattlers, but who is the best dunker in the NBA today?
I have put together a video montage of the best dunkers in the NBA. Take a look, and then vote for who you think is the best dunker in the NBA.
10.) Derrick Rose
1 of 11Derek Rose is only 6'3" and he makes this list, so you know he has hops. Rose saved some of his best dunks for the playoffs last year. This young guy is going to be one of the best players in the NBA for the next decade.
9.) JaVale McGee
2 of 11JaVale McGee had 155 dunks last year, the fourth most in the NBA. For a big man, he is a very gifted athlete. I hope McGee is able to continue to improve and add some actual "game" to his hops.
8.) Russell Westbrook
3 of 11Here we have Russell Westbrook, another point guard, on our list. Westbrook is so athletic it's scary to think about where his game is headed. I personally believe this guy is going to be a top 10 player in the NBA sometime during the next three seasons.
7.) Dwayne Wade
4 of 11Dwayne Wade is the best shooting guard in the NBA today. This guy is a fantastic athlete, and he attacks the rim with that whole "get knocked down seven times, get up eight" attitude. I love Wade's game and his intensity, and I believe the Heat will win an NBA title in the next two years.
6.) Rudy Gay
5 of 11Rudy Gay has a rare combination of size, length and bounce. Here is a guy who is 6'9", but he moves around like a shooting guard. Gay has a chance to lead the Memphis Grizzlies deep into the Western Conference Finals for the rest of this decade.
5.) Andre Iguodala
6 of 11Andre Iguodala is one of the most underrated players in the league. Here is a guy who can get you 20 points per game, he is a hard nosed rebounder and he is a very good defensive player. If you put Iguodala on the right team (Lakers, hello?), he would be the perfect "Robin" to some "Batman's" championship hopes.
4.) Dwight Howard
7 of 11You know how you see a big guy dunk, and you say, "Well if I was that tall, I could do that too"? Have you ever said that? I know I have.
Well, we weren't talking about Dwight Howard. He is that rare big guy who would still be dunking on guys if he were only 6'6". Dwight Howard is big, strong and he has hops! Howard led the NBA in dunks last season with 227.
3.) LeBron James
8 of 11LeBron James is like a runaway freight train in the open court. He is just too big, too strong and too fast to get in front of. If he gets a step towards the basket anywhere in the lane, it is "look out below."
If James develops a consistent mid-range game and a reliable three-point shot, he will go down as one of the five to 10 best players to ever play the game.
2.) Josh Smith
9 of 11I have actually seen Josh Smith in person, from the front row of the bleachers, when he was in high school. He is one of the most amazing athletes I've ever seen with my own two eyes. I wish he would stop shooting threes. I wish he would channel his "inner Rodman" and take his rightful place as the best defender/rebounder in the NBA.
Hey, none of that takes anything away from the fact Josh Smith has crazy, stupid hops.
1.) Blake Griffin
10 of 11Dominique Wilkins was "The Human Highlight Reel." Vince Carter was "Half Man, Half Amazing."
So what do we call Blake Griffin?
That is a debate for another day. Today, I'm just going to call him the best dunker in the NBA. I think Griffin is headed towards being one of the top five players in the NBA.
You Vote: Who Is the Best?
11 of 11So who is the best dunker in the NBA?
Is it Howard? Is it Griffin? Do you think LeBron is the best dunker?
Or did I leave somebody out?
