Stanford vs. Oregon: The Hottest NFL Draft Picks in the Game

Randy ChambersNov 12, 2011

This week's biggest game, which features two teams in the Top 10 of the BCS Rankings, not only will have an impact on the Pac-12 but also the National Championship.

Both of these teams are capable of putting up a ton of points and should be the complete opposite of what we saw between Alabama and LSU.

Another thing that this game will feature is the chance for us to witness a lot of NFL talent. On both teams and on both sides of the ball, there are players who we will be watching on Sundays.

Here are the top future NFL picks that will be playing in this key game.

Stanford QB Andrew Luck

1 of 5

You knew who was going to be on this first slide. He is the hottest college player we've seen in years and has had all of the hype for the last two seasons.

He was supposed to be the No.1 pick last year but decided to return to Stanford for a chance to win a National Championship. If he decides to come out this year, he will once again be the No. 1 pick.

Luck has all of the tools to be the next great franchise quarterback for some lucky team. He has fantastic accuracy and puts the ball only were his receiver can get it.

He has full command of his offense and is able to read defenses like no other. He is a flat-out winner and his most underrated trait is his mobility.

He is able to move in the pocket and buy some extra time or scramble for a few first downs, as he has 954 rushing yards in almost three seasons.

There is little doubt Luck is the most NFL-ready player in college football right now.

Stanford Offensive Lineman David DeCastro

2 of 5

With the success of Andrew Luck, you had to know that he had some solid offensive linemen protecting him. DeCastro is one of those big boys up front who protects him and gives him a ton of time to throw the ball.

DeCastro isn't the best athlete in the world and may have slow footwork, but he is a fantastic run blocker and pass blocker. He rarely ever gets beaten in pass protection and he is extremely good off the snap and takes control of his man immediately.

He will be one of the first offensive linemen taken off the board in the first round.

Stanford Offensive Lineman Jonathan Martin

3 of 5

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell who the offensive lineman is in this picture.

Martin is another great offensive lineman for Stanford who will end up in the first round as well.

He is an athletic tackle with very good quickness and foot work. He is great at protecting the pass and the run and at 6'6, 305 pounds, there is no doubt he can protect the quarterback's blind side at the next level.

Oregon Running Back LaMichael James

4 of 5

James is one of the top backs in college football, but many fear that his lack of size may cause him problems in the NFL. He's only 5'9, 195 pounds but could be like a Darren Sproles back who could be a great change of of pace for any team.

Even at his small size, he doesn't shy away from contact and is a pretty good at picking up the block. As you would expect, he has great speed, and if he's able to kick it to the outside, the defense is in trouble.

Although he is best out in the open field, he has the ability to run inside with his quick cuts and great field vision.

James would more than likely be a second- to third-round pick but could be a great steal for a team.

Oregon Cornerback Cliff Harris

5 of 5

You may know Oregon for their high scoring offense but they have quality defensive players as well, and Harris is one of them.

He is a ball hawk who has great hands and will make a quarterback pay when he makes a mistake. He isn't very good when helping to stop the run, but he is an above-average tackler.

It's best to use Harris in zone coverage, but he has experience in man and has the speed to keep receivers in check.

Harris is a Top 15 corner in the draft and will probably go in the third or fourth round.
