Week 11 College Football Predictions: Betting on Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech
While everybody is all caught up with what is going on at Penn State, there is a great game that will be played tonight. It features the Virginia Tech Hokies against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Both teams are highly ranked in the BCS Standings and the loser will likely lose any chance of winning the ACC and reaching a BCS Bowl.
This game will include two teams that love to run the football. Georgia Tech is the second-best rushing team in the country with their triple-option that averages 328 yards on the ground. Virginia Tech averages 200 rushing yards with workhorse David Wilson doing the majority of the work and quarterback Logan Thomas getting his fare share of yards himself.
The difference in the offenses is that the Hokies are a little more balanced as they can hurt you with the pass as well. Virginia Tech has solid receivers and average 227 yards in the air. Georgia Tech on the other hand is mainly all about their running game as their one of the worst passing teams in the country averaging just 146 passing yards.
Georgia Tech's secondary is ranked 15th in the country but at the same time, the Hokies rush defense is ranked 5th.
I'll go with the team that is better at stopping the other teams strength.
This is a huge game and it's hard to not take the home team in this situation. But I much rather put my money on the better overall team that's much more balanced than to rely on the home field.
Pick: Virginia Tech -1
