Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez: 3 Reasons You Must Watch This Fight

Kyle VassaloNov 10, 2011

Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez is being built up as a one-sided battle between the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and a rapidly aging veteran on his way out. It's far more than that, though.

Here are three reasons Pacquiao vs. Marquez is must-see TV.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is a pipe dream.

Everyone loves to talk about the implications every fight Floyd Mayweather and Marquez are in will have on the theoretical superfight between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Rather than look forward to a fight that we've been waiting for since 2009, let's appreciate a great fight between two solid boxers. Mayweather vs. Ortiz and Pacquiao vs. Marquez are tangible, compelling fights.

People who are waiting around for a more significant fight are kidding themselves.

The first two battles were epic.

This is the third edition of the fight, and while Pacquiao is expected to run away with a victory, Marquez took him to the brink of defeat in each of the first two battles.

This one is unlikely to end in split decision or produce an unclear winner, but the audience can't help but think "What if?" after such a spectacular fight and rematch between the two fighters.

This fight has a chance to be historical.

If Pacquiao wins, this fight will be another notch on his belt and a relatively small victory for Pac-Man. If he loses, it's going down in boxing lore forever.

We could all be asking, "Where were you when Marquez took down Pacquiao?" The 38-year-old vet has a shot at glory. His long odds and history of losing to Pacquiao would make a victory that much more epic.
