BCS Rankings: Alabama Doesn't Deserve No. 3 Ranking
After playing a game that lived up to the hype, the Alabama's kicking lost the game. Alabama finds themselves only dropping to No. 3 in the BCS Rankings. With Oklahoma State making the jump to No. 2 and Stanford and Boise State staying behind them.
The ability for Alabama to stay high in the human polls only had them drop to No. 3, but how can that be when Stanford and Boise remain undefeated behind them?
This slideshow will show why Alabama don't deserve No. 3 ranking.
1. Stanford and Andrew Luck
1 of 4Andrew Luck has created a hype around him that hasn't been seen in years and has the stats to prove it, with a completion percentage over 70 and 25 touchdowns already this season.
He has also proved it by keeping Stanford undefeated and No. 4 in the BCS Rankings. But, by not moving to No. 3 this week, they are eliminated from the BCS National Championship, barring another Alabama Loss.
Hasn't Luck proved his team is an elite one?
The Stanford Cardinal have become like Boise State to the computer and are sitting at No. 3 in the Harris poll and No. 2 in the USA Today poll, but have a computer average of 7, due to competition in the Pac-12. But, Andrew Luck and Stanford can compete on a high level and should have moved to No. 2 or No. 3 in the BCS Rankings.
Alabama's lost and don't deserve it.
2. Boise State and Kellen Moore
2 of 4Voters won't put Boise State and QB Kellen Moore above Alabama because Alabama's schedule is harder. I'm not sure it's much of the fault of Boise that they have to play their lackluster schedule. Now I'm sure they wouldn't perform as well in the SEC, but they do perform at an undefeated level almost every year.
Kellen Moore is in his last year of eligibility and has led Boise State to what seemingly will be an undefeated season, they deserve the No. 3 spot and have been held back by human voters. With a No. 5 ranking in both human polls they are hugely underrated and more deserving of higher spot.
If the BCS rankings stay like they do, B/R has projected Boise and Alabama to meet in the Sugar Bowl. Boise State will show that they were deserving of the No. 3 and possibly the No. 2 spot with a victory of the Crimson Tide, which will be a great way for Kellen Moore to go out.
3. Alabama Lost to the Only Team It Needed to Beat
3 of 4Although the previous No. 2 team, a loss is a loss. Especially when it comes to the BCS rankings. Although they only lost 9-6 to the top rated team in LSU, the damage has been done and the have to suffer for it.
Five teams remain undefeated and yet Alabama stays at No. 3 in the polls. Clearly the Crimson Tide aren't deserving of this spot because they lost. Simple as that. They had plenty of chances to win the game and showed that major flaws do exist on their team.
4. Alabama Misssed Four Field Goals
4 of 4The difference between No. 1 and even No. 10 is sometimes nothing but a field goal, let along four of them. Alabama was 2-for-6 on field goals on the day and showed that their kicker's, both short and long, can't make field goals when it counts.
Boise State was penalized by missing two field goals quite heavily, but Alabama only lost one spot in the BCS rankings. Everyone seems to be downplaying the fact that Alabama missed 4 field goals. If they had made 4 of them, they would have won the game 12-6, instead they chocked and made 33 percent on the day.
Special teams are what makes a team special, and Alabama is undeserving of the No. 3 spot because their special teams just aren't special.
