BCS Rankings: Oklahoma State and Teams That Have a Shot to Play LSU for Title

There are only a few teams that have a shot playing in the BCS National Championship Game.

This weekend's results really narrowed the national championship picture. Barring a complete meltdown, LSU is in.

LSU only has one game left in the regular season against a ranked team when they take on Arkansas in the season finale. They will then have to navigate the SEC Championship Game.

Obviously they will be favored in all of those games. And even if they lose, wins over Oregon and Alabama mean that they could lose one game and still make it.

So, grab your pen and mark down LSU for one the championship game spot. Their opponent is more in question, but it will be one of these following teams.

Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State won a 52-45 thriller on Saturday. They were rewarded with jumping to No. 2 in the rankings.

If they win out, they will likely hold onto that position, but winning out will be no easy task for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys will finish their regular season with a showdown against their rival No. 6 Oklahoma.

Stanford

Stanford does not have the strength of schedule to pass Oklahoma State if both teams win out.

That strength of schedule will be enough to keep them ahead of one loss teams though.

Staying undefeated will not be an easy task for Stanford. They have a huge game this weekend against No. 8 Oregon. Stanford will benefit from the fact that they are at home. And if they win that one they will be in pretty good shape.

Stanford ends the season with Notre Dame, and then will have to handle the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Alabama

If Stanford and Oklahoma State lose, Alabama will be right there for a rematch with LSU.

Alabama has just one game against a ranked opponent left as they end the season against defending national champions and rival Auburn.

Alabama should be able to easily handle Auburn. Auburn will host that game, but their defense has been getting shredded, and they certainly won't be able to count on their offense to lead them going against the tough Alabama defense.

Sorry Boise State

And the last three slides mean that Boise State is out of luck. The fact that Alabama lost in such a close game to LSU killed Boise State.

That puts a one-loss team in front of them already, and that is a one-loss team that is not going to lose.

Boise State could win their remaining games by 100 points each, and it wouldn't be enough to elevate them past Alabama.
