LSU vs. Alabama: Low-Scoring Game Opens Up Door to BCS Title Game
With the low-scoring nature of the "Game of the Century" between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama, the BCS title game has just had its door opened up to the lower seeded teams in the BCS title hunt.
No one wants to see this rematch in the BCS title game. Sure the defense was awesome, but no one wants a defensive battle in the biggest game in college football.
Oklahoma State won a close high-scoring game against Kansas State, and is, for the moment, in the passenger's seat right next to LSU, on the road to the BCS title game.
With the amount of higher-ranked teams going down in the past few weeks, the BCS title-game road has just opened a few more on-ramps.
As much as they are looked down upon, Boise State is now a relevant BCS title possibility, and could find themselves in the game after years of being looked over.
Stanford also did what they had to do against Oregon State, and is a slight favorite over Boise State to make it in the BCS title game should Oklahoma State fall sometime this year.
Three one-loss teams will also be in consideration for the BCS title game in addition to the undefeated contenders.
Oregon, Oklahoma and Arkansas are all still legitimate BCS title-game contenders, with Oklahoma having the biggest chance to play their way in with a win over presumably No. 2 Oklahoma State in their year-end battle.
With all the possibilities for who plays for the BCS title, the last few weeks of the 2011 college football regular season should be a fun, yet bumpy ride.
