10 College Football Coaches with the Shortest Fuses
We’ve all seen it. Coaches blow up on the sidelines at their players, assistants and referees, sometimes for what appears to be no rhyme or reason.
Other coaches have a calmer demeanor on the sideline, but frankly it's more fun to see a coach turn red in the face from yelling at someone.
Here are the 10 coaches in college football with the shortest fuses.
10. Mike Stoops
1 of 10Even though he’s currently unemployed, Mike Stoops gets the 10 spot because when he got mad, he got really mad. Anytime a coach can look like this and do it on a regular basis, he has to get a nod in this ranking.
9. Bobby Petrino
2 of 10Petrino will let you know if he has a problem with you. Whether it’s an NFL cornerback or a college official, he will be sure to give you a piece of his mind and do it in dramatic fashion.
Like his postgame rant over what he thought were blown calls at Florida in 2009, which lasted for days.
8. Lane Kiffin
3 of 10Kiffin doesn’t get mad like the other coaches on this list do, he just bad mouths other coaches, referees and even recruits constantly.
His latest incident came after he wasn’t granted a timeout at the end of the game against Stanford for which the Pac-12 fined him $10,000. He also called out Urban Meyer repeatedly while at Tennessee.
7. Houston Nutt
4 of 10This is by far the creepiest picture of a college football coach I have ever seen and if anyone, coach or not, can replicate that face then they should probably go to anger management.
6. Bob Stoops
5 of 10Bob had every right to be furious at his quarterback in this situation, but he has become known as one of the most intense head coaches in the game. He never seems happy about the way his team is performing and always looks like he could blow up at any second.
5. Will Muschamp
6 of 10He became one of the best assistant coaches in the country and he did it with the intensity seen in the video. Now that he’s the head coach at Florida, Muschamp makes the Top 10 angriest coaches list with ease.
4. Nick Saban
7 of 10I’m not sure if this guy has ever been happy in his life. He was mad when his team poured the Gatorade bucket him after Alabama won the 2009 national championship and he tore into media members after praising his team following a 2008 shellacking of Clemson.
At some point the guy has to smile…doesn’t he?
3. Brian Kelly
8 of 10It is a miracle that Kelly didn’t have an aneurism while going off on Notre Dame after another red zone turnover against South Florida. While he hasn’t turned into a tomato since, he still gets really angry, really quickly during the game. You want to stay away from him if you mess up.
2. Mike Gundy
9 of 10The infamous “I’m a man, I’m 40” rant is really all that needs to be said about Gundy. What does need to be noted, though, is that even though he can get very angry, he does it because he loves his team.
Still, it will always be fun to watch him have a meltdown.
1. Bo Pelini
10 of 10There is absolutely no man angrier than Bo Pelini. The man chews his gum and yells during games and that is it.
The epic rant in the video came after Taylor Martinez called his Dad during halftime of a game. That may have been the angriest he’s been, but he comes close just about every game.
