BCS Rankings: LSU and Alabama Treat Nation to True BCS Title Game

I am going to make a gross assumption about the marquee game of the season. It will be close, defensive and everything we would want in a title game. The reason for that is simple, we are truly getting the two best teams in the nation in LSU and Alabama. 

The BCS will forever get flack for getting things wrong. For once we can laud them with praise for getting things right, sort of. This is the matchup we college football fans have been dreaming about, only it's about two months too early. 

Watching over two months of games, I am ready to assess that these are truly the best in the nation. In fact, it is them and everyone else. I only need to see Stanford struggle against USC, Oklahoma lose to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State's difficulty on defense to make my assumption. 

The tittle game will no doubt feature one of these two teams. The fact that it will not feature both is just short of criminal. 

A loss this late in the year will have both programs playing catchup as well as the time honored game of "I hope the others lose."

After this epic trial by fire, the rest of the schedule gets far easier. LSU gets Arkansas which would hardly be enough to get back in the fight. 

Two teams from the SEC West are also the prime cuts in the conference. We will no doubt have Stanford, Oklahoma State or both run the table. That should be more than enough to push one of the powers out of the way. 

We say so often that defense wins championships that it gets extremely tired. However, these are two defensive juggernauts that employ fantastic offense that can compete with the best in the nation. 

I love Alabama's ground game and can't say enough about LSU's offense considering the tumult they have gone through. 

I am convinced that both teams will continue dominating after this contest on Saturday. The hope is that fate shine once again and lands them in the true title game in January. 

With that being a long shot, I will savor this as the true test between two programs that are far and away the best in the nation.
