Big East Expansion: What's the Worst Conference in College Football Now?
Much like any sport, you have your powerhouse divisions or conferences and then you have your weak ones. But for whatever reason this season there have been quite a few weaker conferences than usual. Even some of the best conferences haven't been what we're use to seeing in years past.
Here are the worst five conferences in college football so far this season.

The Mountain West Conference (MWC)
1 of 5The MWC is always considered one of the worst conferences in the country and that's why Boise State can never get the love they deserve. TCU was a strong team in the conference, but after losing majority of their team they are experiencing a down year.
New Mexico doesn't help the strength of the conference as they are one of the worst teams in the country with an 0-8 record and struggle on both sides of the ball.
Despite New Mexico's futility, the MWC does have a top five team in Boise State, an up and coming team in San Diego State and a decent team in Air Force. Those three teams are the reason this conference isn't higher on the list as the worst.
The Big East Conference
2 of 5The Big East has the opportunity to move up this list with all their key teams leaving and the conference being in serious jeopardy of going under. After this season the Big East will have no big teams in the conference and if they don't add anybody soon they'll be in bad shape.
Adding Boise State, Navy, Air Force and Central Florida will help the conference, but it remains to be seen if those teams will accept an invite.
It would be awfully hard to be taken seriously when you're led by teams like Connecticut and Cincinnati.
Mid-American Conference
3 of 5I'm pretty sure the average fan couldn't name five teams that are in the MAC conference. If you watched the game last night you would know that the concept of defense hasn't made it's way to this conference yet as several teams are ranked in the bottom half in points allowed.
There are six teams with a losing record in this conference.
Temple is the one decent team this season in the MAC. The Owls beat Maryland and took Penn State down to the wire.
The Sun Belt Conference
4 of 5The Sun Belt has five losing programs in their conference including one of the worst teams in the country in 0-7 Florida Atlantic.
The only positives out of this conference are the successes of Arkansas State (6-2, 4-0 in conference) and Louisiana-Lafayette (7-2, 5-1). You also can't forget about an up and coming program in Florida International and the electrifying player in T.Y. Hilton.
Other than a few glimpses of success, this conference is forgettable.
Western Athletic Conference
5 of 5The WAC has eight teams in the conference and five of them have losing records. Only two of them having winning records (Nevada and Hawaii) and even both of those teams have lost three games.
This conference is terrible and if it wasn't for the high scoring offense of Hawaii there may be no reason to even watch any of these teams play. Even then it's hard to watch these teams play.
